Kasargod: Three Including Newly-married Couple Killed in Mishap, 30 Hurt

Kasargod, Jul 4: Three persons including a newly-married couple were killed in an accident at Chervattoor here on Wednesday July 4.

The deceased have been identified as Surfudeen (25), Humeira (20) and Vincy Johnny (25) of Kodungallur. Surfudeen had married Humeira of Bedadka only a month ago.

The accident occured when the a bus plying from Payyanur to Kanhangad rammed head-on into the trio's jeep when they were on their way from Bedadka to Cheemeni.

The impact of the collision was such that the bus rolled over, injuring 30 passengers.

Of the injured, four are said to be critical. They Vimal Varki, a student, Aditya Ravi, Sybil,
and Deepesh. They have been admitted to Pariyaram Governtment Hospital.

Rest of the injured are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Kahangad and Chervattoor.

It is said that the couple were on their way back from Surfudeen's uncle's house, where they had been to attend a party thrown in their honour.

Surfudeen was employed in Dubai and had come back home for his wedding. He was scheduled to leave for Dubai on Sunday July 8.

The mangled remains of the two vehicles were cleared off the road with the help of earthmovers.

Hosadurg police have registered a case.

    Everyone is in a hurry. No one pays attention to street signs, yeild or stop! They are in a hurry to no where! Result is accidents, loss of life,greif and funeral(s). May the dear departed rest in peace. we were in Mangalore recently - glad to be back here alive!

    If you look at the driving culture, the quality of driving, and the design of the roads one would be wise to drive not beyond 40km/h all around Karnataka and come out unscathed. But who will listen, least of all the semi-skilled bus drivers that abound in plenty and take the steering to catastrophe.
