Mangalore, Jul 5: The annual Rachana awards for this year will be presented on November 25 at Milagres Hall here. Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside over the function.

Every year Rachana awards are conferred on deserving people in a glittering ceremony. Rachana award function attracts more than a thousand people from different walks of life. The prestigious award is conferred after careful scrutiny by the jury.

The award consists of a citation trophy and public honour with shawl, 'peta', fruits and flowers by a prominent public figure as chief guest.
 
In the past, George Fernandes, former union minister for defence, M Veerappa Moily, union minister for corporate affairs, Margaret Alva, governor of Rajasthan, Justice Santhosh Hegde, former Lokayuktha of Karnataka and others had participated as chief guests. Prominent past receipents of the award are Flavia Agnes, social worker, Justice Micheal F.Saldanha, Ronald Colaco, NRI entrepreneur and so on.

Rachana invites suggestions, nominations or recommendations, giving complete details with photographs for different categories, so as to reach Rachana Office, Bishop’s House, Kodialbail, Mangalore –575 003, by July 31. Recommendations or applications received in the past will also be considered.
 
There will be five catagories of Rachana awards:
 
1. Rachana Outstanding Woman of the year (in any field)
2. Rachana Agriculturist of the year.
3. Rachana Entrepreneur of the year.
4. Rachana Professional of the year.
5. Rachana NRI of the year.
 
Anyone may recommend or suggest names.
 
Panel of three judges for each category will scrutinize the nomination, suggestion, recommendation or application. The judges will also consider deserving achievers who are not recommended.
