Udupi, Jul 7: A 28-year-old woman has accused her ex-fiance of sexually exploiting her for 8 years and betraying her after promising marriage.

Amita, a resident of Harikandige, Shiroor, has accused Shrikanth, a bus driver, of sexual harassment and refusal to marry after getting engaged to her. She has also named 37 family members and relatives of Shrikanth in the complaint.

Shrikanth is said to have fallen in love with her eight years ago when she was in college. Over the years, their relationship grew and he is said to have taken her to different lodges in Bangalore, Karkala, Udupi and other places and established sexual intimacy with her.

On June 12, 2011, the couple got engaged in Jyoti Bar hall with the consent of both families.

However, in her complaint Amita alleged that after the enagagement both Shrikanth and his family began to ignore her, and repeatedly gave new excuses to delay their marriage.

When Amita's parents called on Shrikanth's family at their house and confronted them, they reportedly abused Amita and her parents and broke the alliance.

Strangely, Shrikanth refused to marry Amita, and at the same time allegedly threatened to kill her if she marries anyone else!

Having run out of all options, Amita approached Hiriadka police on Thursday July 5 and lodged a complaint against Shrikanth and 37 others of his family and relatives, including his parents Shridhar Poojary and Ammanni, and siblings Kiran and Deepa. Amita alleged that Shrikanth sexually exploited her and that she was getting life-threats from him and his family.

Police investigations are on.
