Mangalore, Jul 8: Renowned poet Gulzar on Sunday July 8 inaugurated 'Rendezvous with Feminine', an exhibition of unique paintings by Wilson J P D’Souza at Orchid Art Gallery.

The paintings by Wilson J P D’Souza are a result of his work over a period of three years.

Some of the paintings on display are 'Romantic Moment', Farmer and his Wife', 'I am Losing Identity', 'Migration', 'Motherly Love, 'Dance and Rejoice' and others, all of them chiefly based on womanhood.

The programme began with lighting of the lamp by Gulzar. Former bureaucrat and writer Giselle Mehta and Wilson’s mother Juliana D’Souza shared the dais.

Speaking on the occasion, Gulzar explained the similarities between paintings and poetry and said that the artist has tried to express his feelings on the canvas through colours. Wishing him success, he praised Wilson for portraying the beauty of women through art.

"Woman is a beautiful gift and expressing her nature through paintings is a talent which Wilson possesses in abundance," said Giselle Mehta. One of Wilson's paintings was chosen as cover art for her novel ‘Blossom Showers', Giselle said. A copy of 'Blossom Showers' was presented to Gulzar on the occasion.

On the occasion Wilson presented one of his paintings titled 'Musician Women' to Gulzar .

Wilson D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Wilson Pais compered.

The exhibition will be on till July 15.

It is so humbling to see two renowned artists enjoying a cup of tea on the stairs. Only in our India we can find famed artists like Gulzar saheb staying grounded inspite of fame. Pictures are unique too. Good luck Wilson.
