Udupi: 750 Players Vie for Title as State-level Badminton Tourney Begins

Udupi, Jul 8: Entrepreneur G Shankar inaugurated 5-star ranked week-long state-level badminton tournament organized by district badminton association at Ajjarkad indoor stadium here on Sunday July 8 morning. The tournament will conclude on Saturday July 14.

The tournament is being held in the age group of 13, 15, 17 and 18 for boys and girls, for and men and women in senior categories.

Over 750 top players from across the state will compete in the week-long badminton tournament.

Renowned Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone will flag off a year-long badminton training programme during the concluding ceremony here on Saturday July 14.

District badminton association president K Raghupati Bhat, secretary Prakash Kodavoor, treasurer C A Devanand, SP Dr M V Borelingaiah, ASP M V Venkateshappa, entrepreneur Damodar C Kundar, chief referee Suresh Kumar, BJP district president K Uday Kumar Shetty were present.
