Fresh Crisis in Karnataka BJP - DVS Takes U-turn ?

Narayana Swamy
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 10: In a sudden political development, Karnataka BJP on Tuesday July 10 plunged into fresh crisis, with chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who had assured full co-operation to the high command with regard to Shettar's appointment as the new CM,  reportedly doing a u-turn after getting unprecedented support from his fellow Vokkaligas state-wide.

On Monday, the Vokkaliga community who gathered in thousands in Bangalore forced Gowda not to bow to the high command so easily, and requested him not to submit his resignation to the governor until equal prominence is given to their community in state.

Senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh who arrived in Bangalore to participate in BJP legislative party meet on Tuesday are reportedly stunned by D V Sadananda Gowda's decision.

The party legislative meet which was supposed to start at 10.30 am at city's Capitol Hotel, has still not started (until 12 noon) due to the non-arrival of CM Gowda and his followers.

Only Yeddyurappa and his followers reached the hotel even before 10 am, and are now waiting for the DVS group of MLAs to arrive.

It is reported that the DVS group has put forth three conditions prior to attending the legislative meet:

1. D V Sadananda Gowda should be installed as state BJP chief
2. Deputy CM's name should be announced during the meeting
3. Full cabinet should be sworn in along with Jagadish Shettar, and all the ministers' name should be released.

The tough conditions put forward by the DVS group could prove fatal for BJP, as the BJP high command seems to have no real 'power' in its hands either to take tough decisions and recommand the state assembly or try another round of 'peace-making' with DVS and his followers.

Until Monday, Gowda was soft in his stand, and had agreed to the entire formulae presented by the high command, but the sudden support from the anti-Yeddyurappa group and the Vokkaliga community has made him a 'bold' leader now.

For the first time since dissidence broke out in BJP, the MLAs of the coastal belt expressed open support to DVS. Krishna Palemar, Dr Mallika Prasad, Angara, Raghupathi Bhat and Yogish Bhat are already camping in 'Anugraha', the cheif minister's official residence.

At the moment, three vital meetings are going on in the BJP camp - DVS followers' meeting at 'Anugraha'; R Ashok who is lobbying for deputy CM post with his meeting in his residence along with his supporters; and others gathered at the Capitol hotel.

I am wondering why all these dramas in BJP?Even I was surprised at the decision taken by BJP High Command to remove efficient, corrupt free, able administrator, spotless leader from the CM post. Why they bow down to Mr.Yediyurappa and his cronies tactical pressure? did they think that Karnataka is being ruled only by Lingayats no other community people are existed in Karnataka? This is one of the ungliest/worst decisions taken by BJP High command in the history of Karnataka. The present political problem/turmoil in Karnataka is man made not God made.Remedy for the current political turmoil is the dissolution of Assembly and go for a fresh election/mandate.Then we can see the actual power/strength of BJP.Now DVS is strong man after garnering support from his own Vokkaliga people and other people regardless of their caste, religion, language. Now they know only one language that is we are with DVS,reinstate him as CM,don't tender your reignation, don't turn your back until you get your due respect from the party. Why because he is non-corrupt,clean man, efficient and more over accepted by all people not because he is vokkaliga or from coastal belt or belongs to particular segment. He belongs to BJP MEANS to all the people of India belonging to all the caste. He is a national hero.He does deserve to be in right place with right designation/respect.May be some lapses might have happened without his notice due to his lack of experience during his tenure as CM but it is not deliberate. He tried his best to bring back lost glory/image of BJP.Ultimately he has been removed from CM post for his no fault as a reward for his sincerity without any vallid reason.Ninasha Kaale Vipareetha Buddhi. All the elected tepresentatives,MLA,MPs.ministers from DK/Udipi must back DVS in his struggle for his Justice.

DVS should make the party know that DK,Udupi has always been the stronghold of the party under all circumstances.. even when rest of karnataka was voting for congress our district always had BJP... the party will surely face the wrath of ignoring people here and singing the lingayat song all the time... If DVS is taken off from the CM post the next gen of voters will ensure that BJP does not come to power, let alone state even at district and city levels...They have not done good for themselves considering the fact that this was their first time in a southern state.. atleast DVS has scored positive in the heart of the people. yeddy is such a power hungry jerk that he doesn qualify to be even called a L of a leader...

    Hey Hey Hey,
I like this, I love this development.
Yeddy thought it would be a cake walk for him to bring his person to power as CM.
Actually, Karavali people are more educated and bold too. But they prefer not to fight generally, so whichever party in power does not fall apart. But this time those idots (BYS/chelas) crossed the line, trying to make Karavali people scapegoats.
I am very happy persons responsible took a hard stand against the spineless BJP High command - proving that they are not just pushovers and make a STAND of their own if required.
Great going DVS Camp - dont allow that black mailer to have an upper hand - God bless all of you from Karavali for coming up with support to DVS.
Mr. Jarkiholi you had promised support to DVS earlier - Please come in the open and support him now. This is a very important juncture for supporting DVS.

I feel BJP will seek votes only from vokkaligas and lingayaths during the next election. So it looks as if BJP doesn't need votes from other communities. Its really saddening to see central BJP leaders utter failure in solving our state issues. The party has lost its image especially in the coastal belt of Karnataka which was proved during the last Loksabha by-election by electing Mr. Jayaprakash Shetty. I feel BJP is a sinking boat. The result of current ongoing drama in the state politics will lead to end of BJP in the state.

Now you say that the high command will finalise, BJP will be still strong etc etc rubbish comments. Do you think that DVS was working for CONGRESS OR JANANTA DAL. As per your views and comments, you think that 11 months a CM who worked hardly for the state without a single corrupt issue is now a VILLIAN IN BJP because of rubbish politics. When this Drama will end. He could not do more development work only because of your rubbish state leaders. Each and every day he had a headache of safeguarding his post. Let the whole World laugh at us but sure DVS should not bow to Yeddy & his 10 Dictator. There was a mandate to DVS as CM one year back and same team now ignoring the mandate without any respects. DVS, don't resign because BJP asked you to do so.
Do not resign until coastal K'nataka tells you to do so.
This is high time you expose everything you have been holding from the public, and silence all opposition of your administration, and lead K'taka in the right direction. You must have suddenly realised now that good work pays sooner or later.
Do not bend to Yeddy, Shutter or Gadkari, who are all hand in glove with corrupt leaders or K'taka.
    Stand firm, DVS!!!!!!!!!

It is the proper time to dissolve the Karnataka Government by the High Command. Otherwise, the High Command may lose its popularity and ultimately the BJP party may get very lessor seats in the forthcoming election. The step of DVS is 100% correct. He should not support the partiality of High Command.

When corrupt people like the Yeddy team can take "U" turns after U turns, to tame them why shouldnt a clean man like DVS take a U turn.

I strongly support DVS not because he is from Vokkaliga community but because of his efficient and spotless administration for 11 months. DVS worked for the people and hence nothing wrong in supporting DVS by Vokkaligas and also MLAs of coastal belt. I was surprised why MLA's from coastal belt are silent? Good to see our MLA's proving their worth and they are right in supporting DVS. Yediyurappa is not only corrupt but also a criminal. He should be thrown out of BJP in order to clean the party. Also minister's and MLA's with notorious record should be kept out of BJP in order to provide efficient administration. If at all, DVS forms a regional party, hope MLA's from coastal belt will support him and definitely people will be with them. Coastal belt population is smart enough to differentiate from Yeddy and DVS.
