Bangalore: New BJP Cabinet has Ministers with Tainted Record: Governor

Bangalore, Jul 13 (PTI): Firing a first salvo against the one-day old Jagadish Shettar-led BJP Government, Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj today said some ministers with 'tainted record' had been inducted into it ignoring his advice.

"There should have been an effort to clean up the administration which has not happened. There are still some people in the government who have tainted record, one who have court cases," he told reporters responding to a query.

"I told them to keep out some names who were facing court cases. They (BJP leaders) said they will look into it, but they said their high command has decided the list," said Bhardwaj who had spared the previous Sadananda Gowda Government of any criticism in open.

Bhardwaj, who had a running battle with the B S Yeddyurappa Government on various issues including corruption, however, said "Shettar is a lawyer and generally spoken of well in Karnataka. There are no allegations against him too."

The Governor, against whom the Yeddyurappa Government had launched a campaign accusing him of trying to topple his government and seeking his recall, said he hoped the Shettar Government would be stable.

Heaping praises on Sadananda Gowda, who fell a victim to factional war triggered by Yeddyurappa, Bhardwaj said "I wasn't happy when he was asked to resign." Bhardwaj, a former union law minister, said there was no doubt that administration under Gowda was improving. "He was slowly and steadily going towards clean administration. The BJP wanted a leadership change and it was a party matter and as a Governor I had to oblige," he said.

He said the country cannot afford to have tainted people in the ministry, but he cannot really stop it from happening.

"I can always guide, advise and suggest, but ultimately the governance is their's. So whatever list they sent me in writing, I approved," he said.

We do not know from where Mr. Bhardwaj read out the rules for appointment of Ministers. If he follows the same rule of President of India follow, then he should not pin point at “Tainted Minister Definition” or if he follows the correct rule of India to appoint Minister then at our Central Government, more than 250 Ministers post will be vacant in a single day. We can translate the Tulu Wording in English that “Rule applicable for Mother-in-Law is one and for Daughter-in-Law is another in the same house”

Dinesh Poojari...BJP's good image? What good image you are talking about? Forcing non corrupt and clean CM DVS to resign? Bending to the demands of great thug in Karnataka politics Yediyurappa? There are lot of corrupt minister's in Shettar government. You want them to empty the state exchequer? CT Ravi, CP Yogeshwar, Renuka to name a few. Governor has every right to express his opinions on the state government as he is the governor of Karnataka. He has his duties and responisbilities as a Governor. BJP made a big blunder by agreeing to Yediyurappa's orders. They neglected coastal MLA's and you can see the protests. But still you say that BJP has good image? BJP has worst ever image in Karnataka.

Governor has a good case. Several Shettar ministers have accepted huge sums of money just to sign off on new and old projects. Investors have no choice but to oblige! Karnataka with all its rich resources can not develop if money designed for state building ends up in minister's pocket.

    Governor Sir,

Be honest and help us to have corruption free adminstration. You faced harsh criticism when you aware of facts duing BSY and look what happened to BSY. He went to jail to say the least.

People of state will support you when you support the statements with evidence and facts.

Let us watch for July 21, 2012 when court decides on CM Shettar on a denotification issue.

Few months ago, DVS has expressed his sadness on finding someone for nominating Lokautta with clean slate. That is called true leaders and they get punished for their good work and development support.

HR Bharadwai is sent for SPECIAL DUTY in Karnataka by Sonia Gandhi. Half of the UPA ministers are corrupt. Why is he silent on that? For example SM Krishna is facing court cases, why can't he resign from the post?

HR Bharadwaj played a key role in tarnishing BJP's good image in Karnataka by joining hands with Congress and JDS.
