Bangalore: IT Manager Mismanages Wife's Marks Card, Fired from Top Job

Bangalore, Jul 15 (DHNS): A man who failed to pass a diploma course and used his wife’s marks card to secure the top-level post with an IT giant, has landed in the custody of Chandra Layout police.

Nandan R, 33, a resident of Papareddypalya, Nagarbhavi second stage, had been hired as deputy general manager by IBM at a salary of Rs 24 lakh a year, thanks to his wife’s marks card. Nandan had even obtained a PG degree in management using marks cards faked from his wife’s educational documents as proof his qualification. The fraud was discovered following a complaint by his wife, Latha to police.

After passing out from at St Joseph’s Boys school, Nandan joined MEI Polytechnic College for a diploma course in electronics and c, but failed to clear the course.

The fraudulent marks cards were created from photo copies of Latha’s original marks cards of pre-university and BCom courses. Nandan photocopied the marks cards by putting his name over that of his wife, and had the photocopies attested by a notary, police said.

The attested testimonials were submited to Hewlett-Packard in 2005. Based on the scores indicated, Nandan was made a manager. In 2007, he applied for a PG degree in Management with the Indian Institute of Management at Kozhikode in Kerala, and passed the course. He then joined Amicorp as director of marketing in 2008, and moved to IBM in August 2011.

Nandan married Latha seven years ago and the couple have a daughter. Latha, who was previously employed at a private company, had resigned her job. According to police, the couple had been undergoing marital strife. When Latha decided to return to her parent’s home, she searched for marks cards which were in Nandan’s custody.

But when Nandan refused to part with them, Latha grew suspicious. A search revealed the doctored documents, after which she lodged a complaint.

It is strange that these MNC's do not have a system of cross checking the certificates produced by their employees. Every employee appointed for the first time job or who has jumped from one job to another through experience, will definitely qualification and experience certificate. Every employee should be put under 6 months probation period whether it is first time job or whether he has 30 years experience. During these 6 months the certificates produced to the company should be cross verified physically. It is a tedious job but worth trying otherwise companies like IBM will start losing Rs. 24 Lakhs every year and it is better to lose something initially through cross verification than lose heavily thereafter. Time for serious thought as real education and experience has no value.

Mr.Naveen Anchan, as per you, In my case, in spite of having master degree in finance, I am still reporting to a tamilian lady who is just a graduate. But she is blessed with all the above said qualities because of her convent education . You know convent education better, so why some devil groups against nuns, priest, minority, church, charity. Question: are we ready to protect convent education???????????.

Through this article we should learn lesson. Now a days life partners are not trust worthy! Those days have gone our parents and elder people lived with trust and confidence! We are following the western culture, rich society like film/Celebrity/politicians who believes in Temporary marriage....! So every day wife should check her documents such as passport/Bank balance and jewellery assets etc. Husband viceversa. Those who are sensitive minded thinking of committing suicide etc., for silly reason this is the good example for them. The person after committing heinous crime still showing his face to the society.(Don't be coward be bold) Until our JUDICIAL system is meticulous this type of cases will be legitimate.

I am not humiliating anyone. I have evidence. They get fake degree certificate, fake experience letter, fake pay slip etc.

Andhra people do this more compared to Tamilnadu people.

One of my close friends from TamilNadu openly told he got 2 yrs fake experience certificate. He only told he can even get fake B.tech certificate from a university in Andra.

Go to any distance education center, just pay money, attend the exams and you tell them how much marks you want. It is ready !!! I have seen this in Bangalore in my open eyes and I was stunned for a moment !! Most of these universities are based in TN, UP and AP.

Education can also be purchased in India !!!

I think so he has done a fraud because even though he has a caliber of achieving 24lpa but fraud is fraud. If he had been left then many more will start doing this type of fraud. The amazing thing was a student can achieve in real an IIM degree but can fail in Diploma. Anyways now he should taken into custody treat him a lesson.

Fake Certificates whether it is caste or education qualification, the very purpose of it is to adopt short cut route to success which totally failed. It is time the companies and governments adopt a strict policy of cross verify the certificates. It is time a separate department is opened in companies, schools, colleges and govt offices to check and control these menaces. Those who work and study hard to reach a high level in education field so that they get a job that recognizes their qualification, which is taken by these conmen. Time we act now before it is too late.

    Di

Be a good citizen by informing MNCs what you "have seen few people from Andra and Tamilandu getting fake B.E./B.tech. certificate and getting the job in MNCs."

Just making cheap talk comments probably will not help anyone.

If you have the proper evidence to support, then make comments like above, otherwise stay from insults to Tamil and Andrha people.

I totally disagree with the people here who say that since he has proven in his career, he should be allowed to get away with faking his initial marks card. First, it is a deep ethical question which is the biggest problem in India. Everything is OK, no accountability.. Then why blame politicians? If this guy is allowed to get away, then how can he be allowed to oversee other candidates? Every one should be allowed to fake their mark sheets and experience under him!! Second, once a person a cheats, that too with his wife, it is quite possible that he will cheat something else regardless of the fact that he is now well to do... Recidivism is extremely high with cheating... In the US, recently Yahoo CEO was fired for a similar reason (he said he has a degree in Account Computer Science but he only had a degree in Accounting).. Big majority of the people in the US (dont know about Indians) supported firing him even though he held various high posts and apparently did well... That is the difference in India and top rate countries like US - there is accountability and . Of course, there is corruption in US too, but it is far better managed than India. So my advice: DO NOT SUPPORT SUCH MORAL/ETHICAL DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. Otherwise, we have no authority to blame anyone else. The ends DO NOT justify the means....

I completely agree with Mr.Herold D’cunha. As long as you have an excellent communication skill, good command over English, strong negotiation/soft skills with little intelligence and confidence you can scale to any level regardless the number of degrees. In my case, in spite of having master degree in finance, I am still reporting to a tamilian lady who is just a graduate. But she is blessed with all the above said qualities because of her convent education .

Even he cheated on marksheet, he must be having ability for the posts he held thats why he was able to work with big companies.

However, he should enjoy police hospitality too.

Being an IT Guy he shown his Intellectual Skill. That’s why people says “Degree goes to Dog and Job goes to Money” No doubt this man earned more than he deserved and he has unwanted money to spend on Lawyers to argue in Court that, in fact his wife has duplicated his original Mark Sheet and she is ditching him now

Academic degree marks are just a opening for Career. Nandan had worked as manager for Hewlett-Packard in 2005 and definitely he has performed the target of the Company. Otherwise Company would have sacked him. Also in 2007, he applied for a PG degree in Management with the Indian Institute of Management at Kozhikode in Kerala, and passed the course.

Job wise Nandan has performed, as he was not terminiated from any Company where he has worked but IBB sacking him only due to his marks manupulation. IBM have done the right thing because a cheater will be always a cheater. If in his CV if he had mentined Diploma while applying for IBM, he would have been in a better position to defend himself.

Now let Nandan enjoy for some time police hospilatity. Hope he will realise his mistake.
