Kundapur: Suresh Kumar Tries to Patch up, Halady Firm on Resignation

Kundapur, Jul 16: In a bid to patch up and pacify Halady Srinivas Shetty, who was denied cabinet berth in the Shettar government after being promised one, state law minister Suresh Kumar on Monday July 16 visited the residence of the disgruntled BJP MLA and held discussions for nearly three hours.

Following the discussions, Suresh Kumar spoke to the media and expressed hopes of reconciling with Srinivas Shetty and his supporters.

"The discussions were fruitful and I tried my best to convince Halady Srinivas Shetty. We are hopeful that our partyworkers will agree and not disspoint us," he said.

However, he did not reveal the details of what transpired in the talks with the MLA.

On the threat by Karnataka Un-Aided School Management Association (KUSMA) to close schools for a week in protest against government's insistence on Right to Education (RTE), Suresh Kumar said that the schools must provide compulsory education and they will not be allowed to shut down. "The government will not bend before KUSMA," he declared, adding that the schools will have to follow the guidelines set by the government.

"Out of the total 1,800 schools in the state, 400 schools are functioning in Bangalore. If the school authorities fail to follow RTE, they will have to pay a fine of Rs 1 lac and face a prison term of three months," he warned.

No change in decision, will not be lured by money - Halady Srinivas Shetty

On the other hand, MLA Halady Srinivs Shetty also spoke to reporters and said that he will not change his mind on resignation, especially as it may hurt his supporters. He also said that he will return to his constituency after submitting his resgination papers.

He, however, refused to reveal the details of his meeting with Suresh Kumar.

He further said that he will not be lured by money and that his respect was of utmost importance to him. "Even if I borrow money, I will not cheat my lender," he said.

"Even though I am going to resign, I will not speak ill about any person in the party. I will not ask MLAs of undivided Dakshina Kannada district and local representatives to resign for my sake, as they have their own future to take care of, and I have no right to jeopardise their political careers," he said.

"My party has never deprived me of opportunities, but I am saddened by the whole episode. I have been away from the media glare, and I find it hard to believe that all this is happening to me."

He also thanked the voters in his constituence and the party activists for their support which he said had brought him to this level.

"I believe in democratic governance and have never been a slave. I am only resigning from the post of MLA and will decide about the party later," he added.

The Third Finance Commission task force committee chairman A G Kodgi, state BJP youth Morcha president Sunil Kumar, local BJP leaders and activists were present.

HSS is an asset to BJP. Suresh Kumar will DVS, BSY and Shettar about today's discussions.

In next couple of days DVS, BSY and CM will visit to his house and pacify him. He will change his mind for sure.

He knows dirty congress is unfit for him to be with. Otherwise he would have already joined congress.

Congress people stop dreaming. Congis do not deserve personalities like HSS in their party. Most of the congress MLA/MPs are either half-educated or uneducated.
    JAI HO BJP.

Haladi Shrinivas Shetty dont believe Suresh Kumar. DVS saved him. He too is corrupt minister. BJP means Brasta Janara Paksha. It's ministers are kamukaru, brastaru, kudukaru, adikarakagi kalu yelleuvaru. Join Congress, next mandate is for congress. BJP is finished in Karnataka. No respect or place for honest people in BJP.

    Dear Mr. Shetty,
Please not be carried away by false promises by so called peace-makers. They realised your value and worth now. Now you are the asset of your electorate, they will elect you with record votes, in the event of you contesting as an independent candidate. When you are note lured by 6 Crores, this is nothing for a man of your worth.
All the Best, we stand by you like rock.

    Jaimini P.B., Manipal,Sharjah,

I know Srinivas in 80s before he joined politics, when he was travelling in Bus.

Its not denial of ministership which hurt him, it's insult of calling him to Bangalore and he going to Bangalore with his supporters and coming to know about it through press, which hurt him.

By the by I know your friend Oscar personally too when he was Vice-Presideent of District Youth Congress also travelling by his goods tempo...at that time nobody including he himself ever thought he would even become a MLA.

Any way its their dedication, honesty and charecter which brought to them to their current position....

I dont agree with them in everything but I believe both are honest and non-corrupt...and non-corruptable...

    Jai Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I PERSONALLY FEEL HE MUST COMEBACK TO BJP. HE IS A SIMPLE, HARD WORKER AND TRUE LEADER.

RESIGNATION IS NOT THE SOLUTION FOR THIS SMALL PROBLEM.

    HE SHOULD WITHDRAW HIS RESIGNATION.

HE SHOULD GO AS PER HIGH COMMAND DECISION.

I AM SURE HIGH COMMAND WILL GIVE GOOD POST NEXT TIME. JAI HO BJP.

NOTHING TO WORRY.. HIGH COMMAND WILL SOLVE THIS LITTLE PROBLEM. EVERYTHING IS OK. KARNATAKA WILL BE THE CENTRE OF THE WORLD BECAUSE OF BJP. BJP WILL MAKE ROADS OF SILVER AND FOOTPATHS OF GOLD FOR OUR PEOPLE TO WALK ON AND THEY WILL GET ALL GIRLS OUT OF THE PUBS AND BEAT THEM LEFT AND RIGHT.. NOTHING TO WORRY AS HIGH COMMAND WILL NOT SOLVE THAT MAJOR PROBLEM. HIGH COMMAND ONLY EXISTS TO SOLVE MINOR PROBLEMS. NOTHING TO WORRY MY DEAR INDIANS. THIS PARTY OF FOOLS (BJP) THINK THEY CAN FOOL ALL INDIANS ALL OF THE TIME. YOU CAN PAY YOUR TAX MONEY AND THEY WILL REPAY WITH ENTERTAINMENT UNLIMITED POLITICAL DRAMA SOAP OPERA SIMILAR TO COMEDY CIRCUS. IT IS HIGH TIME TO THINK OF THIS HI.. SORRY LOWCOMMAND. Dear Jaimini P.B(GEMS)Manipal/Sharjah....It indeed all over even if emissary from Nithin Gadkari or even BJP stalwart L.K Advani will land @ Halaadi. You know why, this gentleman, stands for his conviction and conscience even if @ the cost his (political) future. In this effect, he already gave a statement to all national and regional media. For BJP, loss of HSS means nothing but the waves and publicity virtually makes them (BJP) to defend themselves.

Anyway,Halaady S.Shetty once told the media that he was offered six RS crore which was declined by him!!then, the man like him compromise with his respect/conscience and convictions?
