Police Unearth Maoist Arms Dump in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jul 18 (IANS): Security forces unearthed a rebel arms dump during a raid on a Maoist hideout in the forested area in Odisha's Rayagada district and recovered landmines and electronic detonators, officials said Wednesday.

The joint team of paramilitary forces and police raided the forest near Sapalaguda late Tuesday on inputs given by Ramesh Tama, a local Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) deputy commander, arrested by the police last week, district Superintendent of Police Anoop Krishna told IANS.

The arms and ammunition recovered from the site included six landmines, one country- made pistol, and several electronic detonators, he added. Rayagada is about 400 km from state capital Bhubaneswar and the district is considered a rebel stronghold.
