Mangalore, Jul 18: The members of CPI (M) on Thursday July 19 staged a protest to express their angst over the poor condition of the Bibi Alabi road and Market Road here.

Addressing the protestors, CPI(M) leader Vasant Acharya said that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) was not 'Maha Nagara Palike' but 'Maha Naraka Palike'. The protestors also shouted slogans in this line.

"The MCC organizes so many programmes related to dengue and malaria, but nothing has changed in reality," he said.

"After 60 years of Congress rule when BJP came to power in the state we expected positive changes, but they too have failed us," he added.

He further said, "There is a commercial building, Lady Goschen hospital and a police station close by. It is a public place but the MCC has not taken proper care of it. The MCC is collecting Rs 150 from each house but not doing any good work."

"Every child born in Lady Goschen will come into this world looking at dirt and filth all around," he taunted.

He threatened to intensify the protest if immediate action was not taken to repair the road.

DYFI leaders Sunil Kumar Bajal, B K Imtiaz and many others were present.

Mr.Lobo I do support your findings. Sadly your Corporator is  busy in Central Government job. She is trying to put more chairs in Passport office. So you Citizens of Shivabagh have to wait for a while until She is done with that job. May be there is some agenda as Election season coming soon.

The issue taken up is genuine but not the taker of this issue. The followers of CPI(M) blindly follow the party, only under pressure. This is a party which refuses to be in main stream of Democracy and only supports the cause of China.

Rakesh Shetty, your party has the majority and has done nothing for the city except fill in each corporators pockets. This year you lost the mayor elections because of your own party's stupidity. Don't make me repeat that stupidity here as you will become a laughing stock. Therefore do not blame the mayor.

For your kindest information before BJP could come into power in Mangalore City Corporation in Mangalore city we did not had 1 Meter long clear roads everywhere pits and deep cuts. If CPI is blaming for roads then I do not agree for this….

For all the commentators please note we have good roads in the interiors as well with hollow bricks, no where in the congress History of 60 years we could see such roads. We want this governance in the future also

All other political party are busy in making money and fighting for seats..
and above Mr.Antony stated that peoples are hired to protest...!
actual they are living and working in that area. they cut off their job for the day and came to protest for social justice(without expecting any money). Not like you, to make money went out of country....

People are so funny here that they think that the Mayor should resign. The MCC authorities themselves said that they not at the control of Mayor. The MCC is a independent authority consisting of KAS officers who are there to collect money as taxes and then their duty is provide utilities to people.

No Jossey..... They are there to get power. They are not for work. They argue "Power for workers". Once they get power they may ask other REAL workers to do it.... They just want power to rule....

Communism doesn't mean Democracy. But they ruled Bengal & Kerala getting elected in democratic way. But they don't trust Democracy.

Communist rules failed in the world except few countries. Peoples (Souls) have no respect as per communism. They are just numbers. A group of people rule the whole country not ed by people...

Our government offices just loot money. Tax payers money is used today to protect politicians who are supposed to serve or govern our nation. Everybody plays politics. We should demand better roads and other better facilities. We have to make these people accountable! Daijiworld, you can lead the activism for all Mangaloreans and we will support you.

I heard that our MAHA NARAKA PALIKE commissioner is very strict & efficient ! Now were is he? Why can't he take a round once in a week? They sleep all the time & waiting the citizen to make protest then they wake up ,then they do the patch up work.
