Kasargod, Jul 26:
In a freak accident, a bus conductor died when he fell out of the front door and was run over by the same bus on Thursday July 26.

The bus conductor has been identified as 24-year-old Shiju Kumar, a native of Kundanguyi Chera Paikat.

Shiju was employed with Bharatraj (Kalyani) private bus plying between Kasargod and Bandadka.

The bus left for Bandadka from the city bus stand at 8.30 am on Thursday and was heavily crowded with students. At a steep curve at Balanadka, near here, Shiju was thrown out of the front door and run over by the rear tire of the same bus.

Shiju had been working as a conductor for a few years. He was the sole earning member in the family since his father Mohan had passed away eight years ago.

Shiju is survived by his mother Bhargavi and sister Sheeba who is studying in II PUC.

Shiju Kumar, may your soul rest in eternal peace and God give comfort to your family and friends. It is an unfortunate incident but God wanted his way. This is what happens during rush hours all buses are overcrowded and always the bus conductor is either in front or back of the door and he is helpless.

We are very sorry over this tragedy. The conductor was negligent to protect himself especially his family was depending on him. Exactly similar accident took place several years ago in my native village. Our heartfelt condolences to his mother and sister, and may his soul rest in peace. This tragedy has left two poor people with no financial support. I will be happy to assist his sister in her education. Please provide details.
