Mangalore, Jul 31: Members of JD(S) took to streets on Tuesday July 31 in protest against the attack by HJV activists on boys and girls at the Morning Mist Home Stay resort on Saturday July 28.

During the protest, former MLA Amarnath Shetty demanded to know who was behind the complaint filed against Hindu Janajagarana Vedike, and said that all the culprits should be arrested soon.

However, he did not explain why the JD(S) wanted to know the identity of the person who filed the complaint.

He also held the current BJP government's failure to maintain law and order as responsible for the incident.

JD(S) district president M B Sadavshiv said that if all the accused are not arrested within a week, the party would intensify its protest.

As Section 144 is still in place, the protestors were rounded up by the police and taken in the vans from the DC's office to the SP's office. They were later released.

Around 100 JD(S) activists were part of the protest.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Sushil Noronha said that in India, a woman is respected as 'Bharatiya Nari', but what the HJV activists had done was shameful. "I am in charge of the ward where the incident took place, and I can vouch that such an incident has never before taken place anywhere," he said.

"If the activists were really bothered about culture and wanted to protest, they should have taken women with them," he said, adding that Tulunadu is not only for any one community but for all. The incident has brought shame to entire Mangalore, he said.

JD(S) district chief secretary Shashiraj Shetty, minority cell president D M Aslam, corporator Aziz, R Dhanraj, Abdul Majid, Jaya Laxmi, Ratnakar Suvarna, Ravindra Ullal, Shekar Kaatipalla, Madhav Devadiga and Vasant Poojary were among the present.

If one go by the statement made by Naveen the cameraman of the xxx channel, the police were behaved friendly manner with these attackers and instead of arresting them they let them loose. This shows how corrupt and communalized our police force is. Contrary to the praise for Seemanth Kumar by some readers, he proved himself otherwise.

Mr Amarnath shetty,Ex- Minister perhaps senior most politician next to Janardhan Poojari.Good to see him in the street for cause which certainly bring seriousness for the issue.Apart from politics, all citizens of twin districts were angered by the actions of HJV(HINJAVE= HINDE HINDE HOGOUEDU).No civilized society will endorse or support for this heinous crime and persons involved directly or indirectly including one BJP Mangalore ward Councillor need to be lodged in the jail with out bail.

good job by amaranath shetty, such attacks can be stoped in mangalore only if people like amarnath shetty elected as MLA of mangalore region. i know him personally he is very secular person who always support minority and backward peoples. JDS is the solution for safe and secular mangalore, only kumaraswami can handle any sanga peoples, even he has been succeeded n it. v have seen both national parties failed in ruling mangalore.
