WHO Closes Office in Karachi

Islamabad, Aug 2 (IANS): The World Health Organization (WHO) has closed its office in Pakistan's Karachi city in the wake of recent attacks on UN doctors there.

WHO's polio eradication campaign head Elias Durry, however, stressed Wednesday that the agency has not suspended its activities in the city, Xinhua quoted Express TV as saying.

After the attacks on UN staff last month, polio eradication activities in Karachi have been badly hit.
