People Saved from Burning Ship Off Turkey


Istanbul, Aug 4 (IANS): Passengers and crew of a luxury cruise ship were evacuated after a huge fire engulfed the vessel off Turkey Friday.

The ship carrying 100 people caught fire off Turkey's Aegean coast, Xinhua reported. The vessel was destroyed.

The blaze broke out in the galley section and quickly spread to other parts of the ship as it cruised near the coast of Sarimsakli, according to the Anatolia news agency.

The flames were doused by rescue teams of the Turkish coast guard.
