Mangalore: Locals Rescue 8 Fishermen After Two Boats Capsize

Mangalore, Aug 6: Eight fishermen were rescued by the locals at Alive Bagilu near Bengre here on Monday August 6 after their boats capsized.

A gillnet boat named 'Syed Madani' carrying four of the fishermen was caught in strong waves.

Another boat, a trawler named 'Sania', ran into trouble when it dashed into a pile of sand a short distance away from the seashore.

The locals who spotted the boats swung into action and with the help of another boat rescued all the right.

Santosh, Sanjeeva, Umesh and Suresh were rescued from the trawler boat. All of them are said to be from Kundapur.

Manohar, Johnson, Jonam and Shravan, all from Tamil Nadu, were in 'Syed Madani' boat. Both the boats capsized.

On Sunday August 5, four fishermen were rescued in a similar manner by the locals. Altogether, 12 have been rescued in two days.

    This is the real culture of Mangalore people which is inherited from generations. There is no caste, creed, religion etc etc involved. Only Humanity.

    All other so called culture is only external which suits few as they have interest on it in terms of money, recognition, fame, identity etc.

    BRAVO, to the locals of Bengre who have saved eight fishermen. This quality of our locals keeps our head always high.

    Humanity is the only one religion which has no boundaries. Rest all is man made for the selfish end of the leaders.

    Brave work from locals..they are the real heros.

    But the question is why these boats venture into the deadly sea for fishing during this rainy season. If I am not wrong authorities must have already banned the fishing during rainy season.!

    The pictures are great, the sea is very rough.If we go to the fish market we find it is filled with variety of fish.With out fish the meal taste poor.I even heard many people saying "If meat is not there I can manage but not without the fish" These are the fisherman struggling at the sea to fill our basket.Before we get up from the bed they are already there at the sea.Govt should help them by providing better boats with safety, and also should educate them so that they will know how far is the sea is safe for fishing.Big thanks to the locals who saved these fisherman from the death net.

    Great deed indeed! From Human Perspective, It takes just one deed to tarnish the reputation of the place and people, were as many good deeds like this go unnoticed..this won't be shown in news cast at national level..let's all strive and put an end to antisocial behavior in Mangalore and in the nation!

    They are the real heros, send all the goons attacked the boys and girls in resort episod in a boat to catch the fish and and let them cross the border and reach Taliban where they fit the most. Government should reward the braves who rescued these fisher men.
