Mangalore: Prominent Moodbidri Trader Yogish Prabhu No More

Mangalore, Aug 10: Prominent trader of Moodbidri and owner of ‘Raghavendra Prasad’ Yogish Prabhu (78) passed away in his residence on Thursday August 9.

Prabhu, who hailed from Iruvailu, started his trading business from Kallabettu in 1948. Later in 1968 he moved his business to new premises in Moodbidri.

An LIC agent, Prabhu was famous in his locality and was known for constructing ‘Raghavendra Prasad’, a multi-store building 35 years back. The building was known as ‘Yogesherna Angadi’ then and the first State Bank branch in Moodbidri was also opened in the same place.

He was looking after the management in Venkatramana and Hanumantha temples in Moodbidri, and had served as a committee president in Shree Durga Parameshwari temple. He was also an active member of various other associations.

Most of the shops remained shut in Moodbidri on Thursady morning as a mark of respect.

MLA Abhayachandra Jain, K Amarnath Shetty, Ratnakar Devadiga, Dr M Mohan Alva, KP Jagadish Adhikari, Sudarshan M, K Sripathi Bhat, Shree Venkataramana, G Umesh Pai, M Bahubali Prasad, MUDA president, K Krishnaraj Hegde, APMC president, Sathosh Kumar and others condoled his demise.
