Mangalore: Low-lying Areas Marooned as Incessant Rains Cause Floods

Mangalore, Aug 11: Heavy rains lashed the district on Friday August 10, inundating many low-lying areas, houses and paddy fields.

Places like Panja and Ulya in Pakshikere received the a high amount of rainfall, and as a result several places were flooded. In low-lying areas water also entered the houses damaging property.

As many as 25 families in Ulya may be shifted as a precautionary measure.

Normal life was disrupted in Sankalkariya in Kinnigoli too which witnessed heavy rains. Several places were water-logged.

The local panchayats have taken the responsibility of providing relief to families affected by the rainfall.

    Government should make a rule to do water harvesting so there will not be water shortage during summer season also there will be less of flood everywhere

    How about Poojas for a few more crores of Rupees to stop the rains? We can manipulate the gods again...I think the earlier Poojas were one too many...
