Karkala: Photographers have a 'Field Day' at Slush Track Sports Event

Karkala, Aug 13: The photographers took time off their busy schedules and had a gala time as they ran, fell, played and danced in the slush fields belonging to Wilfy at Sanoor Muratangadi, here on Sunday August 12.

This special annual sports event was organized by the Karkala zonal photographers' union for the members of the South Kanara Photographers Association (Mangalore and Udupi).

A large number of photographers took part in the sports events that were held in the sprawling paddy fields, which included games such as 100 metre race, breaking the pot, three-legged race, sack-carrying race, pyramid, running race, volleyball tournament, tug-of-war. The photographers who are usually busy throughout the year took part in all the events enthusiastically.

On Sunday morning prior to the sports events, a bike rally was held by the photographers from Karkala Ananthashayana to Sannur Muratangadi. SKPA advisory committee president Vittal Chowta flagged off the sports event. Karkala MLA K Gopala Bhandary inaugurated the event. Former MLA V Sunil Kumar, Sannu gram panchayat president Narasimha Nayak, Karkala city Inspector Pramod Kumar, KME Educational Institution Imtiyaaz Ahmed, administrative head of Shivantikere Temple Surendra, Kidiyoor Hotel proprietor Jitesh, KPA vice-president Ashok Kumar Shetty, SKPA president Vasudev Rao, former president Karunakar Kanaangi, Shivaram Kadaba, secretary Naveen Rai Puttur, joint secretary Janardhan Kodavur, sports secretary Sukumar Bantwal, Karkala zonal president Padmaprasad Jain among many others were present.

Photographers from Mangalore, Udupi, Kaup, Belthangady, Sullia, Puttur, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Mulky, Karkala, Brahmavar, Kundapur participated in the events.
