Mangalore: State Congress Women's Chief Calls for Manjula's Ouster

Mangalore, Aug 13: Manjula Naidu, president of Karnataka State Women'a Congress Committee on Monday August 13 said that the interim report submitted by the state Women's Commission chairperson Manjula on the recent home stay attack was condemnable, as in her report she recommended to investigate the background of the parents of two boy victims.
Addressing reporters at the district Congress office here on Monday August 13, Naidu came down heavily on state Women Commission chairperson Manjula and said that she should be sacked from her post.
She said that ever since the infamous pub attack and the church attack incidents, there have been several efforts by the Hindu outfits to create unrest in the society.
"The home stay attackers claim themselves to be the ‘protectors’ of culture, but TV footage gives no reason to believe them to be so," she said.
She further said that national Women's Commission chairperson Mamata Sharma has been sent to prepare an interim report, and she will conduct an investigation into the incident soon.
To a query with regard to another incident wherein a 19-year-old employee of a garment unit was pushed out of the Bangalore-Mysore passenger train by two men near Maddur, she said state women's Congress committee condemns that incident too with equal resentment.
She alleged that the BJP in Karnataka has been safeguarding various Sangha Parivar organizations for political benefits. She urged that all the attackers be arrested and booked under the Goonda Act.
To another query on whether he had met the victims, she said that she had not, but would meet them later in the day. She informed that a 'jatha' will be organized in the city wherein students of various colleges have been asked to take part to seek justice for the victims in the incident. On the occasion, a copy of the report submitted by the state Women's Commission chairperson will be burnt, Manjula said.
