Mangalore, Aug 14: The roof of a house belonging to a poor family collapsed on Monday August 13 at Shaktinagar, due to heavy rains over the last few days.

The incident occured at around 7 pm when the family was busy preparing for Iftar.

The house belongs to Noorulla Khan. His wife Shahida Banu who was preparing for Iftar suffered minor injuries.

Electronic equipment in the house have been completely destroyed. Family sources informed that they incurred heavy loss.

Noorulla Khan along with his wife and three children have been living in this house for over a year. He earns his livelihood with a small business and is now left without shelter.

KPCC secretary Ivan D'Souza visited the spot and made arrangements to shift the family to a temporary shelter. He also assured that his party will take necessary steps to help the family repair the house. Shakthinagar corporator Mariyamma Thomas also visited the spot and inspected.

Ivan D. You are a great soul.
You have given your word of honour to temporary shelter them and then permanently.
Who in this present world does all these good things.
See those BJP ministers and their cronies (including those here) I donot hink they have helped anyone in heir life time to persons in dire need.
You are a saint, you are blessing to the downtrodden.
Please do not forget YOU promised.
