Mangalore deputy superintendent of police P Harishchandra has been awarded the President’s Medal for rendering commendable service in the police department,.

B Satish Prabhu, inspector, special inteligent branch, headquarters, Southern Central Railway too has been awarded with the Indian Police Medal-2012 on the eve of Independence Day, 2012 in appreciation of his meritorious service.

DySP P Harishchandra entered the department of police as a sub inspector in the year 1977. Later, he served as inspector, and then DySP.
 
He has been recognized for his distinguished service over the years. He has been honored with cash as many as 189 times, felicitated 18 times, presented awards twice and honoured with 34 meritorious awards.

In the year 1984, when rowdy sheeter Ravindra Prasad and Manjunath escaped from custody, inspector Harishchandra proved his capability by tracing the two within 12 hours. In addition, he has traced other culprits and helped in reducing illegal activities in the region.
 
Presently, B Satish Prabhu of Bailoor, Karkala, works as inspector of special intelligence branch, Southern Central Railway. He was appointed as sub-inspector, Railway Protection Force in the year 1992 and worked in all important the RPF posts over South Central Railway.

Satish Prabhu played an important role in the detection of the Gautami Express Sabotage case in 1995. While on deputation with CBI he took up many high profile cases including the passport forgery case of Abu Salem and Monika Bedi. In his previous years of service, he was awarded two GM Awards and DG’s insignia.
