Bhatkal, Aug 16: In a major haul, the officials of the anti-narcotics cell seized 7.5 kg of drugs and arrested two on Wednesday August 15.

The drugs were reportedly being brought from Hyderabad to Kundapur, Udupi and Mangalore via Bhatkal.

The arrested are Mohammed Umahin (42) and Abdul Rehman (53), both residents of Gulma in Bhatkal.

One of them is reportedly the brother of an influential politician in Udupi.

Acting on a tip-off, the officials of the anti-narcotics cell led by CID inspector B S Satish arrested the duo at Bhatkal bus stand on their arrival from Hyderabad. Their plan was to proceed with the drugs to Kundapur, Udupi and then to Mangalore, it is learnt.

The two were later handed over to the Bhatkal police.

The officials recovered 5.45 kg of ganja from Umahin and 2.1 kg of ganja from Rehman, together adding up to Rs 7.5 kg. They also seized Rs 2725 in cash, two mobile phones and other items from the duo.

Bhatkal city and rural police personnel, anti-narcotics official Ashok and others were part of the operation.

At least in this month they should do some good to society... Utter failure of epic....

Wonderful laudable job of seizing by Anti narcotic cell. This is the way to save so many people/youngsters of our Country from addiction and catching up bad habits and ruining valuable lives. Political parties irrespective of party affiliations should shoulder the responsibility of cutting the supply lines and in eradicating drug menace from society and save our youth/future.

I advise readers not to be biased with particular community. It is not the name or where comes from makes makes whole commmunity to so. Please try not to project whole community or label them everyone is drug dealers. We have good and bad people in every community. Weeds grow everywhere. Even in your home as well. Be careful.

Possession of such amount of controlled drugs enough for them to hang until death in gulf countries. So these duos are about to spoil hundreds of people and their families which was checked by officials.Henceforth, they deserves harshest punishment if not death penalty.

    Sister Reshmi Salian
"This community either gets into terrorism or looting, robbing and like such illegal activities"

Bad and good people exist in all communities and all religions. Don't blame a whole community for a incident which was done by people for their personal gains.

If that was the case we should blame a whole religion who is known for corruption in India. What do you say?

But thanks to God..he has given humans the power and ability to think & judge between the good and bad, between right and wrong.

    Please grow up.
