Puttur: Parladka Flag Hoisting Error Unintentional - Fr George

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur

Puttur, Aug 17: "The controversial flag-hoisting on India's 66th Independence Day on Wednsday, August 15 in Parladka Syro-Malankara Catholic Bishop's house by an assistant priest was totally unintentional and happened due to a mistake. People should not give communal colour to this incident," said Vicar General of the diocese Fr George.

Speaking to daijiworld, he said that Syro-Malankara Catholic diocese renders unconditional apology to the people for hurting their sentiments. "We assure that this incident will not repeat. The error occured due to the mistake of newly appointed staff. We have utmost respect for the nation and the flag. We are proud of our country," he said.

He recalled the services of Syrian Catholics to the society through education, health and other sectors. "We have always worked for the betterment of society, and there was never any intention to hurt anyone. We request the people to draw a curtain on this incident, and not let controversy continue..." he appealed.

'This is Symbolic Christianization' - VHP

Vishwa Hindu Parishad's district general secretary Radhakrishna Bhat termed Wednesday's flag hoisting incident as a 'systematic effort to symbolic Christianizing', and warned that if such incidents repeat, there will be huge protests state-wide.

"The flag hoisting under the religious Cross is condemnable. Though it was private place, the flag hoisted was seen by the public," he said.

"Where are those intellectuals who raised their voice during the home stay attack in Mangalore? Why are they quiet now? Where is the media now which sensationalizes such incidents 24X7? If it had happened with RSS or Hindu outfits, there would have been noise and protest. But the same people are sitting quiet without even opening their lips," he lambasted.

He also questioned the district administration for keeping quiet on this incident.

Bajranga Dal Mangalore co-ordinators Murali Krishna, Nitin Kallega and others were present at the press conference.

I do not know why every trouble in Dakshina Kannada now a days has the word 'Syro Mallabar' associated with it. I thank God for educating me in a school run by Mangaloreans, Goans and Anglo Indians where the education, rules, duty and discipline were exemplary...

vhp it is high time you stop spreading venom and start doing actual social work which is missing from your side. Everyone including majority hindus have come to know your cultural agenda is only for gaining political mileage while helping and reaching out to needy people is missing.

    DEAR MR. JAIMINI,
I REMEMBER READING THIS INCIDENT WHERE THE HEAD MASTER MADE VALIANT EFFORTS TO RECOVER OUR FLAG DURING NATURE'S FURY.
THIS WAS ANOTHER SUCH INCIDENT WHERE SUCH SENSITIVITY WAS ABSENT.
ONLY WHEN FR. GEORGE BECAME GUEST AT THE LOCAL JAIL HE REALISED HIS MISTAKE.
RSS & VHP NEED NOT TAKE MILEAGE OUT OF THIS ONE OFF UNINTENTIONAL INCIDENT.
THIS IS ANY TIME BETTER THAN THEIR PSEUDO DEALINGS OF HOISTING PAKISTAN FLAG.
SHAME ON YOU MR. RADHAKRISHNAN FOR DARING TO THREATEN A PEACEFUL SERVANT OF GOD.

excellent statement lancer. I liked what you said "Mr VHP do you know how many flags lying on ground after the celebration around India".
Just a thought "why VHP taking ownership in these events, are we changing Indian Penal Codes to "VHP Penal Code"... very funny isn't it.
Shame on India.. never change even after 66 years. Where are qualified are going.... or our colleges are filled with Kerala students and Karnataka is still illiterate.

It is diffidently unintentional hoisting. One can not say the priest should not hoist the flag. The church is taken the whole responsibility to build a decent, clever & pro-national human resources ( even hindu Mutts like Adamar Mutt, PPC , Muslim intuitions too) The local police has the duty to take the matter and close the matter in a peaceful manner without giving the chance to wrong act by ASBO's.

First of all admit the mistake and if you hoist and not to hoist it does not make any difference to our Bharath Mata.

Fr George is innoncent. It was a mistake. It happens sometimes.Long back, once school Head Master was hoisting flag in one of the villages in Mangalore.Unfortunately for him flag got disconnected in mid air and fell on the ground, shocked head master tried to pick it up,but he could not as there was strong wind and flag was flying,falling,rolling..head master was running behind it.Finally he was able to catch it after running behind it for 10minutes,by that time students and parents got a free entertainment for 10 minutes..(I don't recall it when this incident happened, but I read it in udayavani)

I request the Priest not to hoist flag next time during any occasions as it is not compulsory to hoist flag at home. VHP should note that BJP leader Murali Manohar Joshi after making so much noise some years back hoisted national flag up side down at Srinagar. If some body hoist Pakisani Flag no body makes so much noise. Though it was a mistake as per flag code, you can politely advice the correct procedure about flag hoisting. Mr VHP do you know how many flags lying on ground after the celebration around India.

Which is better. Mollesting girls, robbing is better OR flag hoisting.

Is VHP is hoisting National flag.
Your affilitated group has hoisted Pakistani flag in Hubli in order to instigate communal violence. You VHP is full of venom, hatred, It is Hindus are fed up now with your talibanisation group like VHP, BD, HJV. etc.

For u all ingorant error is big issue. But purposful attack on women, u have not at all accepted it as a mistake. The Church priest has already apolozised for the mistake. Then why u are raising such crocodile cry and tears.

First u VHP hoist the National flag and then advise others. Shame on u who does not hoist national flag, salute our national flag.

How sad that VHP compare this with home stay attack. The home stay incident is a insult to the entire woman world.Your people touched and molested your own community girls and that too infront of the video camera. You did not destroy the tv channels that exposed these videos. You did not destroy those boys who did it.You celebrate Aug 15 with safron flags and dress code every where. The priest wanted to raise the flag at a visible height to respect it.Not that a intentional mistake. The USA and UK flag is hosted in Hindu Temples in USA and UK below the temple dome. They are more educated human beings compared to your intelectuals.
