Mangalore: Natak Sabha to Showcase Pradeep Barboza's Konkani Play

Mangalore, Aug 19 : Theatre plays a prominent role in bringing about a conceptual shift in the mankind, since time immemorial drama has been a very important tool of socio political changes and will continue to play a major role in the progression of mankind, said Cyril G.Sequeira (CJS Tacode) a renowned Konkani Playwright.
 
Calling upon the Konkani youth to remember and to revere the forgone Konkani dramatists he pressed upon the need of respecting one’s own language and culture. He was speaking after performing the Muhurtham of the new Konkani play “Soglem Divnchem Thanne” at Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore on August 18.
































The Konkani Natak Sabha will be presenting the drama during its 69th Annual Day on September 23. Pradeep Barboza, Paladka a prominent playwright of the Konkani world has authored this comedy.
 
The guests present during the occasion lit a lamp and sought divine intervention for the success of the play. Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza (OFM) handed over the script to the director Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla, Mangalore) and wished him and the artists’ good luck.
 
Dolla narrated the theme of the play and distributed the roles to the artists. In his address he commented at the sad situation that is prevailing in the file of Konkani drama.
 
Senior artist Vincent Castelino shared his memories regarding the Konkani Natak Sabha while thanking the sabha for its service in the field of Konkani theatre. He also requested the Sabha to continue this mission with great zeal and enthusiasm.
 
On behalf of Pradeep Barboza his teacher at Milagres High school Avit Barboza, vice president Gretta Rebello, general secretary Sunil Menezes, joint secretary Jerald Concessao were on the dais.
 
President Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. General secretary Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks and treasurer Dolphy Saldanha compeered the programme which was well attended.

    "SAGLE DIVCHE THANE" had earlier packed house shows in UAE and moodbidri. Really enjoyed acting in such a wonderful comedy drama. Surely Dolla and his team will rock the manglore crowd.
