Mangalore: ‘Horizon 2012’ National Conference on Marketing Kicks Off at FMMC

Mangalore, Aug 24: ‘Horizon 2012’, a national conference on marketing organized by the Father Muller Center for Hospital Administration, a wing of the prestigious Father Muller Medical College was inaugurated by Padmabhushan professor B M Hegde here at the Decennial Memorial Hall on Friday August 24.
In his inaugural address, professor Hegde said that hospital administration is a tricky one unlike any other products as the medicines are not salable. He asserted that one’s own immune system is capable of healing the diseases.
He said that the hospital administration professionals need to be trained with compassion. Ravages of marketing theory should not clash with the ethical theory of medical profession, he stated. Compassion goes long way in hospital management, he said. Anything highly advertised is not good and added credibility to the core of this profession.
Dr Selwyn Colaco, facility director, Fortis Bangalore, the chief guest for the inaugural session said that working within the parameters to market the best available health care facility is the need of the hour. He added, however compassion is the key in medical profession.
Dr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI presided and Dr Jayaprakash Alva welcomed the gathering. Fr Denis D’Sa, Fr Reginald Pinto, Sweta D’Cunha were present at the occasion.
The topics covered in the conference included the following: Excellence in operations inter alia marketing, marketing and operations, internal marketing, business plan, branding, customer relationship management (CRM), international business, hospital success, digital strategy, marketing opportunities.
