Bus Washed Away in Pakistan Floods; Nine Dead


Islamabad, Aug 29 (IANS): At least nine people, including three children, were killed and several went missing when a bus carrying around 40 people was washed away by floods in northern Pakistan Tuesday night, Xinhua reported.

The accident took place when the bus slipped into a river while travelling on a flooded road in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

The bus was heading from Palandry district to Sehr Hanjalkot village when it was washed away into the Poonch river near Pulli Dari area.

The dead include five women and a man. Around 25 people aboard the bus were rescued by locals, but six to eight people were still missing, Xinhua said.

An old woman died of grief when she heard about her grandson's death in the accident, the report said.
