Udupi: Private Bus Turns Turtle in Brahmavar - 24 Injured

Udupi, Aug 29: As many as 24 persons sustained injuries after a bus turned turtle near Soorebettu of Cherkady village in Brahmavara here on Wednesday August 29 morning.
 
The bus was plying from Perdoor to Brahmavar. The driver lost control of the vehicle and applied the brake after which the bus barged into the drainage by the side of the road. Many of the injured are school children as the accident occurred during the peak hours. They belonged to schools and colleges located in and around Brahmavar.
 







 

Veeda, Sumanth, Roopa, Ashwini, Daisi D’Souza, Wilma, Pooja, Adarsh, Pooja, Nisha, Prathima, Bhumika, Ashwini, Saritha of Petri and Thalma D’Souza of Aroor, Shekar, Pooja, Dinakar, Deekshith of Madiya, Prathima of Mundkinajaddi, Shreekanth of Bannady, Veena P Thingalaya of Kannaru and Ganapathi Poojari are said to be injured.
 
Although the students were more in numbers as passengers, none were posed to any risk to their life. It is also said that if the bus had hit the electric pole located near the spot it would have resulted in more injuries.

Locals Shreekanth Samanth, Umesh Samanth, Pundaleeka Acharya among others rushed to the spot and extended help to the injured. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Brahmavara.
 
Brahmavara circle inspector Prabhu D T, inspector Girish Kumar, local panchayath president and vice president rushed to the spot.

    Looking at the pics it seems like it definately needs skill to turn bus turtle!!! Either it has to be high speed or free-wheeling like race cars in the circuit! Probably the driver was thinking he was driving an airplane! and thought of landing with the steep descent...ha..ha!

    With regard to driving, drivers in Karnataka, esp in Mangalore, Udipi and around are more reckless and careless than in the North. They, the former think that they run the 'Shatabdi' & 'Rajdhani' trains on the road.

    Someone else is at fault, as it was raining heavily driver lost control of vehicle as a result the vehicle skidded and toppled, then the commuters were hurt nobody be blamed.! This is routine on our roads.! Why worry?

    These buses have literally become Yamraaj Express..It scares the crap out of us to drive our 2 wheelers or 4 wheelers fearing the rash driving of these so called buses and prefer buses to reach homes safely but nowadays even this option seems to be running out of luck..
