Mangalore, Aug 30:
Various like-minded organizations like Youth Congress, NSUI, SFI, Youth Janata Dal, DYFI, AISF, VJD(S), AIYF will hold a mass protest in city on Saturday September 1.

Munir Katipalla, district president of DYFI addressing a press meet here on Thursday August 30 said that the unity among students of various religions was destroyed with the attack on home stay at Padil by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists on revelers last month.

"Hence on September 1, students of all colleges will boycott classes and will gather near Jyothi circle at 10 am in large numbers. A procession will be taken out till the DC’s office where the protest will be staged," he said.

Mithun Rai, president of district Youth Congress said that though the Youth Congress had submitted a memorandum to the city police commissioner urging stringent action against the attackers, no action has been taken yet. "The attackers should be charged under Goonda act" he urged.

"On the day of the protest as many as 10,000 students are expected to take part in the protest. Students need to fight against moral policing by coming to the streets," he said.

"The partying youths have been targeted by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists and the situation is such that students belonging to different communities are cannot even have picnics together, or even have friendhips," he rued.

Ivan D’Souza, KPCC secretary, Yogish Shetty Jeppu of JD(S), Vinayaraj, Shashiraj Shetty among others were present during the press meet.

A release given to the media stated that police department should not heed to any pressure from political quarters, and thereby protect the constitutional rights of the citizens.

Democracy is Worlds best form of governing system. Government and opposition play a vital role in functioning of democracy. If government is functioning correctly as per law/constitution, fine ! opposition keeps quite and people appreciate good deeds and denounce wrong deeds or inaction. Here party affiliations do not come. However opposition have to play its role and effectively denounce/expose governments inefficiency, inaction failures etc.before general public. Purpose is to make government accountable to it people.

In the unfortunate and horrific homestay incident the victims were youngsters and students and they aptly need justice and action. We hope the students are not influenced by politicians, and are only attempting to do their part in expressing their objection towards the atrocities on their fellow students. We hope and pray that this step by the students will be a peaceful one, an example and role model to all on how students can stand up for a cause with utmost dignity and principles. Today media can take a message and cause to the entire world, therefore we trust that they will give sufficient guidance and support to the students and that the students will conduct themselves with calm, respect and dignity unlike those who are in prison.
The intellectuals and the prominent people came forward and held meetings and assured the public of taking steps to bring harmony but they are yet to fulfill their promises. Here the students are just trying to express their solidarity in objecting such attacks and plead for freedom and life without fear in a democratic country. It would be great if people representing peaceful movements such as Jagho Mangalore, Arise Mangalore and many others who are passionate about the harmony in Mangalore came together in support of the students, as these are our children asking for justice.
With regard to the attackers much is spoken about their objective of guarding culture etc, it would be interesting for the media to conduct a research on the background of those held to see where they come from, how do they treat their women and are they even eligible to say a word about culture or decency, let us not distract the issue where a bunch of unruly people barge into the private life of people trying to enforce their criminal minds on our youngsters.

Let the law takes it own course and let’s await the honourable court verdict. This Morcha is only a publicity gimmick, to garner support sympathy for the upcoming elections. There are more burning issues currently in the India, Lets raise our voice against price rice, inflation, unemployment, infiltration, poverty etc. Why don’t they have a Morcha against desecration of the ‘Amar Jawan’ memorial in Mumbai? You seem to be under the impression that Taliban is a country, or state or a place. Talibans are a group who do not tolerate anybody who do not live as per their wishes and were basically Afghan muslim students turned into radicals and terrorists.
What the HJV rowdies have also done in the same way as the Talibans, misbehaving with the people both boys and girls who want to have their way of life. Any miscreant group acting like Talibans whether in BJP ruled state or any other States are actively involved in talibanizing the society into their way of thinking. So obviously some organizations are behaving like Talibans and want to talibanize the society and Mangalore.

Hey you GenNext! If you want growth and development we have to root out all types of terrorism from the fanatic radical group of all the major religions in India.
It's proved that there is a strong militant group in RSS still it's not being termed as a terror group? How its top leaders manage to get away by claiming that a few fringe persons may be involved when any other organisation that gets involved in one incident, is dubbed terror group. In case of RSS, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena there is never any raid or sustained interrogation. Pramod Muthalik was caught on camera claiming that he could set off a communal riot for a fee but there was no action against his group. While Muthalik and Bajrangi were active in states ruled by BJP, the Shiv Sena and MNS have done the same in Congress-ruled Maharashtra, where outsiders including Biharis and UP-ites have been targeted and yet these parties escaped the terror tag.
If SIMI operatives were involved in terrorism and it was banned, why not RSS and Bajrang Dal after all they also have their activists involved in terror plots? Kerala PFI's freedom march was banned but despite open display of arms, firing gunshots, taking clothe/coconut-leaf torch procession and holding training camps for years, but the different wings of terrorising Sangh Parivar are not banned.
In the last several decades, pro-Hindutva elements have infiltrated several institutions. They include agencies that are vital in keeping tab on the anti-national forces and destructive organisations within the country. A single officer posted at a key place can sabotage the entire investigation. The role of Saffron outfits in communal carnages like anti-Christian violence in Orissa's Kandhamal, Karnataka and numerous anti-Muslim pogroms is well-known and documented. RSS and BD were running the risk of getting dubbed terrorist groups in USA after attacks of churches still Indian judiciary is not acting on them, why?

OMG. I AM JUST WORRYING STILL ABOUT THIS SMALL ISSUE.

WHY CONGI PEOPLE ALWAYS DRAGGING THIS ISSUE.

THIS ISSUE IS SOLVED ON THE SAME DAY. SOCIAL GROUP SOLVED THIS MATTER ON BEHALF OF POLICE.

THEY SAVED ALL GIRLS AND STOPPED ALL WORST ILLEGAL ACTIVITY AND RAVE PARTIES.

NOW EVERYWHERE ILLEGAL ACTIVITY IS STOPPED BECAUSE OF SOCIAL GROUP.

NOW ALL ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS ISSUE. CONGIS BUSY IN LOOT VOTE BANK.

SPECIALLY IVAN DSOUZA. HE IS SHOWING HIS ATTITUDE THAT HE IS SUITABLE FOR NEXT MLA SEAT.

HE THINK ONLY THIS IN DREAM . HE NEVER WIN IN MANGALORE. STATE GOVT IS ALWAYS DESERVED FOR BJP ONLY.

SO BETTER EACH AND EVERYONE MUST CONCENTRATE ON THEIR DAILY BREAD. NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THIS.

The attack on youth at Home stay is against the civilised society. No one has right to manhandle,molest/misbehave and take law in hand. The rule of land is supreem. Therefore, looking on this angle the protest is meaningful.

However, when more ghastly incident has happened such as discreting Amar Jawan and these organiser choose "Silence",definately, make one to think twice.

Hope that is not the case here.

Dear Tripti, please compare the other protestors and these groups, they are well educated, gaduates, lawyers who are preparing to protest with an advance notice the police and public within the guidelines of the constitution. Unlike you will see Mangalore protests with collage of photos and posters without meanings and protesting without notice to the police and public. They even scream bharath matha ki jai after molesting and beating the innocent girls. They removed their over coats and told the police that the girls were half naked.
