Mangalore: Suresh Nayak - Scaling Great Heights Despite Down's Syndrome

Mangalore, Aug 31: One look at 40-year-old Puttur Suresh Nayak and all one can see is his zeal in life. Afflicted with Down's syndrome, the marvel man is a holder of two great records.
Suresh, known to have an IQ level of 22 which is way below the normal level of 90-100, met mediapersons at a press meet here on Friday August 31.
Suresh has his name among the annals of the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records, for the world's longest tongue which measures up to 10 cm in length.
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Suresh set the record for recalling 518 telephone numbers in one hour and 12 minutes. The feat has been included in the Limca Book of Records.
Another unique feature is Suresh’s hand which has the middle and ring fingers conjoined along with extra lifelines.
Although he has a lower IQ level, Suresh holds four different world records all set in a single year.
He is currently employed as a telephone operator at Sri Ram Shares, Puttur.
Doctors have diagnosed his mental age to be that of a 3.6-year-old and his social age to be of a 6.6-year-old.
He spent 13 years of his life training at the Asha Nilaya Special School, Udupi.
