Dubai : Dr Mohan Alva, Dr Vivek Rai Among Guests of Honour at 'Tuluvere Parba'

Dubai, Sep 2: For the first time in UAE, Nama Tuluveru in association with various Community Organisations of Tulunadu in UAE, on the occasion of their 5th anniversary are holding a grand "TULUVERE PARBA 2012" in Dubai on 5th of October, 2012 which is said to be an really ethnic event ever conducted in UAE.  Community Leaders, Presidents & Office bearers including leaders and members of various communities of Tulu Nadu had a grand meeting at Quick Bite Restaurant Hall, Muteena, Deira Dubai on 31st August, 2012, 10 AM to discuss and follow-up on the preparation with their fullest support in making this event an event systematically.

















The meeting started with welcome by Shodhan Prasad who carried on the proceedings of the meeting.  President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha and UAE Bunts, Sarvotham Shetty was greeted and all the members wished him on his birthday.  Sahebans UAE committee members, Siraj Ahmed and Althaf H.K. have also joined from Abu Dhabi to give a boost to the programme.  Sarvotham Shetty, B.G. Mohandas, Noel Almeida, Sudhakar Alva and Purushottam Salian were present on the dais. Representatives from Mangalore Konkans, Devadigara Sangha, Satish Venkataramana, President of Ganigara Sangha, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Mogaveers UAE, Vishwakarma Seva Samithi, Ravi B. Shettigar, President of Padmashali UAE, Sunil Shenoy, Geetha Nayak and Anjana Kamath lady representatives of UAE Amchigele Samaj, Narayana Seva Samithi, Nama Tuluveru Executive Members, Anand Bailoor, Sudhakar Poojary, Shubakar B., Dinesh Sanil, Yogita Salian, Santosh Karkera, Rajaneesh Amin, Amar Umesh Nanthoor, Anil Cardoza, Arthur Pereira, Dhananjay Shettigar, Divesh Alva, Ganesh Kotian, Prabhakar Suvarna, Sampath Shetty, Rajendra Pai, Satish, Premjith, Sandesh Angadibettu Jain, Fernandes and many others were present during the meeting. 

"Tuluvere Parba 2012" programme was briefed once again which is clearly focussed towards charity, keeping up the rich Tulu language alive and at the same time showcasing our heritage, tradition, ethnic food, ethnic folk, ethnic artifacts, ethnic sports and ethnic way of life.  Tulu is not pertaining to certain community but is the property of all those who belong to Tulu Nadu irrespective of caste, creed or religion.  Hence 'Tuluvere Parba 2012' will be jointly shouldered and presented by all the Tuluva community organizations in UAE.

Guests of honour who have confirmed their presence include Prof. Dr. B.A. Viveka Rai, President of Karnataka Tulu Academy, Vice Chancellor of Kannada University Hampi, Vice Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University Mysore,  Professor of Kannada Literature and Folklore, University of Mangalore who is also a guest professor at the department of Indology, University of Wurzburg, Germany and being appointed as guest professor under the Scheme 'A new passage to India' of the German Acadamic Exchange Services, Germany. 

His major areas of research and publication are classical and modern Kannada literature, modern literary theory, folklore studies with special focus on oral traditions, and Tulu oral literature, especially oral epics. He has been involved in international research collaboration with scholars mainly in Finland and Germany. His major publications include "Tulu Janapada Sahitya (Tulu Folk Literature), Bangalore 1985" and "The Siri Epic as performed by Gopala Naika" (co-authored with Lauri Honko, Anneli Honko and Chinnappa Gowda), Helsinki 1998.
 

Guests of honour also includes the well known, Dr. Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva's Education Foundation Moodabidri who confirmed his full support to the event. An icon in the field of education, Indian medicine, sports and culture to name a few today is an established leader in all these and more. The true self of Dr. Mohan Alva is an embodiment of humaneness and selfless service. He is known for his charitable work and concern for the poor in the true sense, cutting across cast, creed, sex and religion. His charitable work reflects a spectrum of areas.

A tireless worker for the upkeep and spread of Indian classical and traditional music and dance also with his concern for growth of Kannada literature is legendary have put across establishing institutions providing basic education starting from Pre-University, Degree courses in faculties like Arts, Commerce and Science, in general; then he also established institutions in Medical sciences in particular Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy and Yoga at Graduate level and Post Graduate courses in Ayurveda and Para Medical Courses like Nursing, Physiotherapy and Medical Laboratory Technology along with this realizing the need for standard Technical education. He has started a full-fledged Engineering college called Alva's Institute of Engineering & Technology.

The chain of institutions he has started since 1995 has transformed Moodbidri into an international educational township. He is giving a scholar ship through sponsorship to more than 700 Children with disabilities around Moodbidri which got launched on the eve of commemoration of sacred Mother Theresa. He promotes tulu through hosting Tulu Conventions and Nudi Siri.


 
Tulu drama troupe of well known organiser, Lakumi Kalavidaru, Lion Kishore D. Shetty's "Kateeldha Appe Ullalthi" comprising of 34 member senior artists, who have presented more than 100 shows, will be exclusively flown from India to present this drama during the concluding part of the day's event.  Organiser Kishore D. Shetty has acted in over 450 mythological, historical and social plays.

He has perfomed  in "Yakshagana" and has the credit of taking the Tulu play "Oriyardh Ori Asal" to the Gulf countries bagging the BEST ACTOR AWARD (2009) for his "Srikrishna devaraya" staged at Panambur for State level Historical Drama competition was the best recent example for his stage capacity. Kishore D. Shetty's "Lakumi" have been performing various such plays to packed houses over the last more than five years and is one of the foremost Tulu comedy theatre in Mangalore.
 

Another special guest of honour include Chidananda Naik of Pallonji Qatar, who is whole heartedly supporting "Tuluvere Parba 2012' and sponsoring Lakumi Tanda's "Kateeldha Appe Ullalthi' troupe with their travel fare from Mangalore to Dubai.  Chidananda Naik, a well known personality among all Indian community in Doha is a great supporter of Sports, Culture and specially Tulu Nadu traditional events. Hailing from Jeppu Mangalore, Naik leads M Pallonji Group as General Manager in Doha Qatar
 
Moreover a special needs children group of Mangalore who are talented in folklore will also be part of the show.  There will be many more surprises of the event which will be announced in the later stage including Blood donation mobile campaign unit supporting Dubai Blood Bank.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Mangalore Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Temple have blessed the event during the recent visit by our representative in Mangalore.  More special guests are in the pipeline which will be announced later.

Moreover there will be 'Tulu Dictionary' book release being compiled by one of the Tulu activist of Dubai and there will be Tulu songs release from one of the new Tulu love story movie which will be shot entirely in Dubai soon.

The whole day fun filled event will be full of surprise with ethnic food stalls, game stalls, activity stalls, charity stalls and cultural activities on the stage being put up by various associations of Mangalore in Dubai who are all geared up for the forthcoming event.  The event is not only for Mangaloreans but open to people from all over the world who would like to know about the culture, tradition and food style of Dravidian Tuluvas of India.

    It is good to see Tulunadu flag will hoisted in Dubai,In Dubai they have very good leaders from coastal karnataka keeps on organising lot of cultural programes,All the best wishes to them.But in Muscat Tulukota is almost motionless.Request all the tulunada members get up and do some cultural programes in Oman at least once in a Year.
