Dubai: Karnataka Sangha to Host Mega Dance Contest for Budding Talents

Dubai, Sep 3: Karnataka Sangha Dubai, one of the oldest associations in the UAE, formed 27 years ago, will host a dance competition in various categories on Friday September 21. Under the leadership of its dynamic and young president Girish Shetty, the committee is geared up for two mega events - a dance competition for talented youngsters in the UAE, and Karnataka Rajyotsava programme.
 
As part of the yearly celebrations, Karnataka Sangha Dubai has already hosted a successful and fun-filled dart competition, organized by sports secretary Manohar Hegde along with executive committee members.
 
The dance competition is scheduled to be held on September 21 at Westminister School Al Qusais (near Millenium School) for all Kannadigas of different ages in the UAE. There will also be competition for professional troupes, which will be open for all participants.
 
General secretary Daya Kirodian and vice-president K R Tantry have requested all Kannadigas in the UAE to take part in the competitions. Winners of the dance contest will be awarded trophies along with cash prizes.
 
The objective of the dance competition is to bring out the latent talents of Kannadigas in the UAE by bringing them together under one roof.
 
 
Dance competition categories
 
Below 15 years (cinematic dance - minimum 5 and maximum 9 participants)
Above 15 years (cinematic dance - minimum 5 and maximum 9 participants)
Folk dance (minimum 5 and maximum 9 participants without age limit)
 
Language: Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, Beary and Kodava.
 
Professionals group dance (open to all)
 
Language: Kannada, Konkani, Tulu, Beary and Kodava
 

Drawing Competition

There will also be a drawing competition in the below-mentioned categories.
 
Below 5 years (sheet will be provided for colouring)
Between 5 and 8 years (sheet will be provided for colouring)
8 to 15 years (Theme: Tourist spots in Karnataka)

President Girish Shetty requested all associations in the UAE to be part of this event, and also requested to attend the fortcoming Karnataka Rajyotsava programme to be held on November 9, 2012 which will be one of the mega events of the year.
