Mangalore, Sep 5: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrandal, Mangalore urged for the protection of cows in the district and also warned of a State wide high protest, if all the cow slaughter related issues are not stopped completely before November 15.
Speaking at the press meet held on Wednesday, September 5 at the press club, Jagadesh Shenava, secretary, VHP, stated that in many places across Mangalore namely Kannur, Suralpady, Jokatte, Katipalla, Handel, Kallabettu, Moodumurnad, Kudroli, Ullal, Angaragundi and Venur, illegal slaughter houses are still running.
High numbers of cows are being supplied to Kerala, from places like Thalapady, Mudipu, Devanda Padpu, Devipura and Hoo Hakuvakallu and also towards the illegal slaughter houses in the city.
The cows being illegally slaughtered are mainly brought by stealing. Many mutton stalls in the district are mixing calf meet with the mutton, without even testing if it is hygienic.
He also said that even if there is an anti-cow slaughter act, it is not widely followed in the state. Hence he urged the concerned department to take this matter seriously and do the needful; if not a high end protest will be held in the state.
Adding to this, Dinesh Pai, convenor, Go Raksha, said that there is an immediate need to stop the Kudroli Slaughter house, as it is functioning against the rules and regulations of the animal slaughter Act.
When there was an attack on the Sunkadakatte Temple’s Bison on the temple premises, no groups or outfits protested against it, nor was it a big hype in the media, but when there was a church attack, a few years back, it was a national news, because it effected the sentiments of Catholics, whereas this is effecting the sentiments of Hindus and it has passed by silently, why, he questioned.
Pradeep Pumpwell, Harish Amtady and Gopal Kuthar were also present at the press meet.
