Udupi, Sep 7:Students of the Dr G Shankar Government women’s First grade college, organized a protest against the editor of evening daily here on September 7.

The article that was published in the paper recently, attacked the integrity of the teachers and professional staff. The article alleged that one of the teaching faculty harassed the students.

The protest was conducted from the Clock Tower, service bus stand to the DC office, Manipal. A memorandum was submitted by the students to the DC, SP and Tasildar.

The students demanded an apology from the editor and also asked for proof of the accusation as per the article.

The college has respected teachers who are the best at their work, claimed the students. They stated that the protest has been conducted by the students themselves and not provoked by any staff nor the principal of the college.

A deadline of September 10 has been submitted to the evenign daily and if the demands are not met the students have declared a hunger strike.

Some editors have bad habit of black mailing people.Sometimes they deliberately write nonsense if targeted persons don't pay him huge amount. Here,Management,Staff and students join together..so there might be some wrong article from Daily Editor.Proper investigation will prove who is right or wrong..

Sad to see/hear/read about this protest....students please understand that your parents/guardians sacrifice a lot to provide you a better life and education....so please value that and utilize your time in activities such as sports, quiz, preparing for competitive exams etc which will help you to provide a better future for yourself as well as for your family and society......

I don't believe students themselves gone for a strike!Where is College Student union?Since the said College is Women college, the editor of the evening paper needed to take extra caution before cribbing any serious allegation against Dr G.Shanker Govt Women College. Now time has come for him to justify his action or face the wrath of public.Media should be Responsible and accountable to the public and rule of land.
