Udupi, Sep 8: The famous Udupi Sri Krishna temple is all set to celebrate Shree Krishna Janmashtami and Vittal Pindi with religious gaiety and pomp which will be held on September 8, 9.
As a part of the festival, religious and cultural programmes including various competitions, dance will be organized. It is also time for 'Little Krishnas' to shine. In a variety of competitions organized to mark Janmashtami the tiny tots dress themselves in fancy and colourful costumes resembling Shree Krishna adding extra attraction to the festival.
Special floral decoration arrangements have been made in the Shree Krishna mutt. Bhajan programme will be held throughout the day. Paryaya staff together with students has prepared ladoos and chakkuli’s which will be offered to Lord Krishna.
On Saturday night Paryaya Shree Vishwavallabhatheertha seer will offer ‘Laksha Tulasi Archana’ to Lord Krishna followed by a special puja. At 12.10 pm ‘Argyapradana’ will be performed to Lord Krishna.
On September 9, Panaka distribution programme will be organized by the mutt at around 10 am. The distribution programme will be managed by the officials of Udupi Zilla Yuva Brahmana Parishad. Special ‘Annasantharpane’ will be held after 10 am. At 3 pm the idol of Lord Krishna will be taken out in a procession around Car Street after which it will be immersed in the Madhwa Lake.
On account of Vittla Pindi a special Huli Vesha competition has been arranged besides other fancy dress and folk dance competitions in the evening at around 4 pm. A large number of currency note garlands are made which will be distributed by the mutt to the Huli Veshas and the people dressed in different costumes.
Special arrangements have been made by the police personnel to ensure security of the people.
