Kasargod, Sep 8: Two persons, including a panchayat employee were arrested by Adooru station circle inspector, S Satish Kumar and his team, after conducting raids at three houses in Bovikkana Baladka. A country rifle and many other deadly weapons have been seized.
The arrested have been identified as gram panchayat employee, Abdul Khader (50), resident of Balanadka and his relative, Zafar (24). Police sources have confirmed that accused Zafar is secretary of Popular Front, Bovikana unit.
Another two, Zafar and Latheef are absconding and are booked for criminal offence. District police chief, S Surendran, the PCI Satish and his team conducted raids at Khaders house after receiving information from genuine sources.
Police have seized an unlicensed rifle which was hidden under Khader’s cupboard. As per the information received Zafar’s house is also said to be raided, where they have seized other weapons as well.
The Popular Front, Bovikana Unit was inaugurated nine months ago. Zafar was chosen as the secretary of this unit. The police have told that the raids will be continued.
Investigation is on and more information is awaited, said the police. The police have obtained information regarding the manufacturer of seized rifle, police sources confirmed.
