Mangalore, Sep 9:
"The Naxal who was shot dead during the exchange of fire between the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) and Naxals at Cheru reserve forest near Subrahmanya recently, has been identified as Yellappa alias Dinakar of Raichur," declared IGP (Western Range) Pratap Reddy in a press meet on September 9.

Addressing reporters in the police commissioner’s office he confirmed the identity of the dead Naxal as Yellappa alias Dinakar (34), son of Gaddiappa, resident in Mandalagere in Raichur.

According to records available with the Sadar Bazaar police station, Yellappa alias Dinakar was an accused in a murder that had taken place in the city in 2003, but was acquitted later in 2005.

However, he had not returned home nor had anyone seen him after he was released, the IGP said, based on the information given by Yellappa’s brother Thayappa during the inquiry. "It was therefore suspected that he had links with Naxals and was an active member of the Naxalite group. Identifying him was a difficulttask as the dead Naxal had neither interacted with the people in the region nor possessed any important documents like ration card, voter card etc," he said.

Thayappa confirmed that Yellappa was his brother and the fingerprints which were registered in Sadar Bazaar police station too matched with that of the dead person’s fingerprints. The records had also mentioned that Yellappa had a scar on his left shoulder, which is also proved correct.

After completion of all the formalities, the body of Yellappa was cremated at Nandigudda cemetery (Hindu Rudra Bhoomi) in the presence of police personnel, the IGP said.

Height of hypocricy. Dreaded terrorists getting five star treatment in prison and Government spending crores of tax payer's money on them and naxals are getting killed. I don't support any violence. Violence by naxals, violence by terrorist organisations, internal violence created by some anti social groups is one and the same. In such a case, why Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru are not yet hanged? Afzal Guru attacked parliament and none of the parliamentarian's were killed. Securtiy personnel were killed. So no value for the life of security personnel's life. Also, Ajmal Kasab and his associates killed police personnel and common people whose life is not important for our government. Time has come for the government to hang Kasab and Afzal Guru. Hope the government will wake up from it's deep sleep. Is this killing of naxal is genuine? There are lot of instances where innocents are branded as naxals and being killed.

We have read in the History book that even in Indo Pak war dead bodies of enemy soldiers were buried with fully religious respects. Reason being “after death no enemy” Once again now it is proved by Karnataka Police that they even they perform burial according to his/her religious beliefs so that their soul rest in peace for ever. I hope all Naxals and enemies of our beautiful Country like India got to know that their life to end up like this

Now the police can justify the need for Anti-Naxal force, thereby creating the job security for them.
