Bhatkal: 20 Injured in Tempo-Lorry Head-on Collision, Four Critical

Bhatkal, Sep 14: As many as 20 people were injured when a lorry and a tempo collided head-on late evening here on Thursday September 13.

Of the 20 injured, Devraj, the tempo driver, Annapa, the lorry driver, Ishwar Naik, Mahabaleshwar and Manjunath are said to be critical.

The accident occured when the the tempo overfilled with passengers travelling from Honnavar to Bhatkal collided with a lorry plying in the opposite direction at near Belke cross, Murdeshwar

While the critically injured have been admitted to Mangalore, four others are in a hospital in Kundapur. The rest have been admited to RNS Murdeshwar and Bhatkal government hospital.

Honnawar KDDC bank manager, Ganpati Naik (55) sustained serious eye injury.

Speaking to daijiworld one of the injured said that they were travelling by tempo as the KSRTC buses were not available due to the strike.

Top emergency help association helped the injured by arranging the ambulance. Nisaar Ruknaddin, Nazir Kashimji and Maulana Ammeen, and other locals helped the injured.

CPI Shiv Prakash, and PSI Prakash Devadiga visited the spot with other officers soon after getting the information. A case has been registered in the Murdeshwar police station.
