Udupi: Mystery Surrounds Couple's Death, Murder Suspected

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (VM)

Udupi, Sep 14: The death of 24-year-old married woman Sangeetha, along with another man identified as Gaurish on Thursday September 13, had been initially suspected to be a case of suicide. However, certain facts as well as allegations by Gaurish's family have now revealed that it might well have been a murder.

It may be recalled that Sangeetha, who was married to Sathish, had disappeared on Tuesday September 11. She was said to be friendly with a man called Gaurish who she had befriended at her work place.

Sangeetha and Gaurish

Two days later, on Thursday September 13, both Sangeetha and Gaurish were found dead near Hoige Thota pond. On initial investigations, it seemed to be a case of suicide.

However, further investigations have revealed that the right hands of both Sangeetha and Gaurish had been tied with a wire, and that there were several injury marks found on their heads and others parts.

Gaurish's father Appu in his complaint stated that on September 11 morning, Sangeetha had called Gaurish on his cell phone, after which the latter had left the house saying he was going to Udyavar. However, at 11 am when his family tried to call him, his phone was switched off. The same day Sangeetha too disappeared and her husband Sathish filed a missing complaint with the police.

In his complaint he alleged that Sangeetha's family and relatives had a hand in murdering the couple. He claimed that the bike and a bag belonging to Gaurish was found near Sangeetha’s house after the two disappeared.

It was Appu who first identified the bodies at Udupi district hospital. He said that Sangeetha used to often visit their house.

Police are investigating the case.

I always pities the men who are mercilessly split between their wife and mother after marriage.

We women know that our MILs were yesterday's DIL and we tomorrow's MILs. Gentlemen, forgive us for torturing you in some cases but mostly we do adjust and carry on.

A society is made up of many people of different mentality. If some people stir the tranquility, lets not generalize. Yes, I do seek pardon for generalizing all men it may have hurt the lovely FIL, hubby, Brothers-in-law and brothers/father I am related to. Sorry from the bottom of my heart.

I think , it is in-direct interference from Mother in Law(Boy side). In India 90% marriage fails due to Ladies interference either from girls side or boys side where there is no law can detect or impossible to prove them guilty.

"Savira sullu heli vondu madhuve madu" is a Indian cultural proverb too. Indian ancent culture hand sathi (pushing the woman in to husbands cramating fire for burn to death), child marriage was a Indian culture.

Extra marital affairs not even allowed in western countries it is crime there too. After the divorce they can marry whom they want.

If it is a murder, the culprits should be punished. In the mean time, we should not encourage extra marital affairs which shall ruin the very basic fabric of the sanctity of the institution of marriage.

Sangeetha was still in her teens when she was married. She was not matured enough to her right choice. As years rolled by she must have felt that her parents did not a right match for her and she found the one,but it was too late. Least did they think this would be the end of their life.
This is one of the reasons for the suicides, missings and murders.
Sathish's parents worried about the ooh aah, ouch of the soceity...
Husband Sathish and his parents to be taken into task.
Give the girl child her choice to her life partner.

It is pure case of MURDER.Sangeetha, in fact accused of carrying 40 Lakhs of rupees worth gold from her neighbours,(borrow for marriage function theory)found dead with her LOVER!!!! Circumstantial evidence,in fact clearly shows beyond doubt that it is clear cut of murder.Sangeetha, married and belonging to upper class, loved and decided to elope with lower caste(DALITH) Gowrish.

Police need to interrogate husband, relatives and friends of husband. Definitely, culprit will be traced with in 24 Hours if police wills!!!
