Kasargod, Sep 16: The strike that had been called by the Left wing and the BJP in the state, protesting against the diesel price hike and the prevention of subsidized gas cylinders, ended peacefully on Saturday September 15.

The strike took place from morning 6 to evening 6. The movement of all buses including KSRTC and private buses was stopped. Only a few bikes and other small vehicles were found on the road.

Shops were closed in the city, but some were open in the rural areas. The daily life of the people was highly affected. No untoward incidents were reported. Majority of the schools were closed.

The attendance in government hospitals was also low. The strike was complete in Kasargod and Kanhangad. Shops were open in Manjeshwar, Uppala, Kumble, Neeleshwaram, Trikkaripur and Chervattur.

Police took precautionary measures to prevent unwanted incidents. A procession was also held in the cities by the Left and the BJP. The University and the PSC exams that were scheduled to be held on Saturday have been postponed.
