Puttur: Two Killed, Three Injured in Head-on Collision

Puttur, Sep 17: Two persons were killed and three others seriously injured after a Trax Toofan collided head-on with a jeep near Kadaba police station limits on Sunday September 16 evening.

It is learnt that the jeep was plying from Nettana to Bilinele, while the Toofan vehicle was moving towards Dharmasthala from Subramanya.

Jesna (15), daughter of George, a resident of Bilinele, died on the spot.

Jeep driver Iqbal (32), a resident of Kalaar, succumbed to injuries on Saturday night in the hospital.

The jeep passengers, George (45), his wife Shini (35) and son Jelwin (12), all residents of Bilinele were seriously injured and admitted to Puttur hospital.

It is learnt that the when the Toofan vehicle hit the jeep head-on, the driver of the jeep lost control while trying to avoid hitting an electric pole on the side of the road. The jeep toppled as a result, causing grave harm.
