Udupi, Sep 18: Zilla panchayat CEO Prabhakar Sharma on Monday September 17 visited Koraga families left homeless by the Suzlon project.

During his visit he assured that families who were rendered homeless three years back due to the upcoming Suzlon project will soon be rehabilitated.

Around four families at Ambedi in Kanchinadka resided in the house which they built along the road side. Prabhakar Sharma and ZP president Katapady Shankar Poojary personally inspected the spot.

Four families in Ambedi and five families in Boggarlachil have been living with great difficulty as they have still not been provided with basic facilities like ration card, door number, electricity and so on.

The CEO asked the officials concerned to admit the kids of the homeless Koraga families to hostels. He also promised to provide them with ration cards on the basis of their survey numbers.

He said a meeting will be held with Suzlon Company and local administration on providing them housing facilities.

The land meant for dumping waste will be utilized to construct houses and some of the houses will be built on government land by making an appeal under the governor’s plan, he added.

The Koraga families in reply asked the officials not to admit their children to hostels. They rejected the offer placed by the CEO.

Vijayalaxmi Acharya, Padubidri gram panchayat president, Sevanthi Sadashiv, vice president, Naveen N Shetty, Praksh Shetty, Mamatha Shetty, development officer, Vishwanath, district INDP manager, Harish Kanchinadka among others were present.
