Embarrassment Piles on BJP as Yeddy Demands Party Chief's Ouster

Bangalore, Sep 18 (IANS): The faction-ridden, scam-scarred ruling BJP in Karnataka Tuesday faced embarrassment as a senior leader demanded the resignation of state party chief and another of a deputy chief minister.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's first Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who has been angling for state party chief's chair, said incumbent K.S. Eshwarappa should quit as he was unable to do a good job as he held the important portfolio of revenue.

Ayanur Manjunath, party spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member, slammed another deputy chief minister R. Ashoka, who handles home and transport portfolios, for "mismanaging" last week's strike by road transport corporation employees.

Talking to reporters at Shimoga, about 280 km north of Bangalore, Manjunath also took a swipe at Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar saying he had no control over the ministers.

Manjunath accused Ashoka of working to the dictates of Janata Dal-Secular party.

BJP circles were taken by surprise by Manjunath's attack on Ashoka as it came four days after the strike ended with the government promising to consider employees' wake hike and other demands. The two-day strike had crippled bus services across the state and commuters had a harrowing time.

Yeddyurappa's outburst against Eshwarappa, however, did not come as a surprise to party circles as his attacks on state and central party leaders are seen as pressure tactics for a plum post.

Tuesday was the third day running that Yeddyurappa, who was forced to quit in July last year over corruption charges, hit out at his party.

Addressing a public meeting at Haveri, 330 km north of Bangalore, the former chief minister said if Eshwarappa had the interest of the party in mind, he should immediate vacate the party chief's post so that an able person could take over.

On Sunday, he ticked off BJP central leaders at another public meeting in Haveri.

He said he did not need the support of BJP leaders to become chief minister again. He had also said Karnataka does not need a BJP or Congress or JD-S government but "only a farmers' friendly government".

These attacks were not taken seriously by state BJP leaders as indicated by the response of Shettar, the third BJP leader to head the government in four years.

Asked if Yeddyurappa meant his government was not friendly, Shettar told reporters that the comments showed the former chief minister's concern for farmers.

Yeddiyuappa has been pushed out for petty corruption by Indian politician standards. There is no politician who is no corrupt, everyone is.

Yeddiyurappa is an able leader and should have been allowed to complete his term instead of being stabbed in the back by some in the BJP.

Since many days, there was no any political entertainment on Daijiworld. Now Yeddy started again new issue. Carry on Doctor, pull the legs of Ashok n Eshwarappa, Vokkaliga n Kurubas should not hold higher posts in govt they are not Lingayats to rule Karnataka. Yeddy is trying to join congress by all means. I am not suprised if he takes over congress leadership within 3 months. That's the reason he is not commenting against congress, but spitting on his own party.

When I visited India one of very influence person asked me to donate some fund for party. With a good intension, I gave some money, {I do not want to the amount and the person} and wished good luck to the party. Of course if I ask any help hope they may do it but I do all my work as per the rules & regulation. Even though I am NRE still I pay taxes.
Now coming to the point after I donated the money the person invited me for a dinner and all most 200 people where there for that dinner including elected candidate and ministers. They gave nice speech and promised to do the best for citizens. However, it ended with drinks, chicken biriyani, hatred and all evil words. I will never ever give any donation to any political party in my life. They all same stupid and continue to do the same. Even BJP top leaders trying to pull the legs one another and they do not have any shame.

Mentally Yaddy is prepared to quit BJP and form his own Regional Party and then join hands with Cong in next election. Now he is just preparing the ground for that through verbal attack on his own party. In Andhra Jagmohan Reddy has already made peace with Cong after CBI raids, and Yeddy seems to have taken lessons from Jagamonda Reddy. It is rumoured that Bellary Reddy gang has also sent feelers to Congis. In politics there are no permanent enemies or friends.

Dear friends, we are heading for a four corner contest in the next elections - Congress, BJP National Parties on the one side and JDS, BSY regional parties on the other. It is clear that BSY is not ready to take the dictates of his high command nor he is comfortable to be away from the CM's chair for too long. It is also a fact that he wields considerable clout from his Lingayat community, which is going to determine the outcome of the next election. Both Congress and BJP have spoilers in JDS and BSY respectively and it highly unlikely that there will be any pre-poll arrangement. It will be interesting to see who gets what number and who will team up with who after the elections.

This yeddi gone crazy, I could remember the quote of HDK that he lost his mental balance. He appears like the fish thrown out of water restless without power and position. I really feel sorry for the BJP High command which is in fix to take a decision against Yeddi. None of teh Minsters in the cabinet are capable of handling any portfolio, classic example is the strike of KSRTC & MBTC. They arrested the family members of the agitating staff shows how bad their governanace. This Eshwarappa talks rubbish does not have common sense. His loose talk shows how capable he is as party president. Yeddi needs a powerful position to survive from his corrouption cases and has enough money to promote new party. He looted for the rest of life so blackmails BJP high command. Ultimately people of our state are unlucky to have this kind of politicians and the ruling government. The opposition party congress is useless busy in fighting among themselves. The JDS led by HDK / HDD worst than all among. God shoul save the common people.
