Mangalore: DVS Challenges UPA to Go for Fresh Elections

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Sep 19: Former CM Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday September 19 challenged the Congress-led UPA government to opt for the people's court (elections) by dissolving the parliament at the earliest.

Speaking to reporters at his resident here on Wednesday, he said the UPA government has been marred by serious graft charges for the last six months.

"Constitutionally-bound institutions have exposed the government, hence it has no right to continue in power. The UPA has been introducing policies which are hampering the economic progress of the nation," he said.

"Many economists and analysts and even the international media have pointed out that the UPA government has been taking wrong economic decisions. A wrong notion has been put in the minds of the people that FDI is inevitable for the country," he added.

"UPA allies like the Trinamool Congress and the DMK too are showing their double standards as they are supporting the government and the bandh simultaneously. Regional parties always try to retain their presence at the cost of the nation," he lashed out.

To a query on the state president's post for BJP, the former CM said the high command should immediately intervene and clear the confusion prevailing among party workers. "A national executive meeting of the BJP will be held on September 28 and 29, and I am sure the high command will intervene and take a decision on the matter," he added.

"BJP leaders in the state should not give statements in the media with regard to internal issues of the party, which divert the party workers from their goal," he said, and warned that such things may take the party towards turmoil as it has happened with the Congress party.

On the issue of drought in the state, he said a report on drought-hit areas of Yadgiri and Mysore has been submitted to the chief minister.

To a query on Halady Srinivas Shetty who was denied cabinet berth in the Shettar ministry which led him to resign from the post of MLA, DVS said that he met Halady and assured that he would continue in the party.

BJP leader Rajgopal Rai was present during the press meet.

    Dear Mr. Gowda,

We all know why you have started coming out in the public and giving statements every now and then. People are not blind and dumb that you can fool them with your stupid statements. First get your house right, ask yeddi to stop calling shots with your Govt in Karnataka. We all know that what are your achievements other than putting up a smiling face at everyone. Look at the accident rates on roads across our districts. What have you done to improve the conditions of the roads and road users. Ask your Government to atleast provide basic means of transportation, safer roads and infrastructure for people of Karnataka. Then you come up with your statements asking UPA to resign. Do you know how many jobs will be created for the people if the FDI is wholeheartedly implemented in India? Do you know how the farmers are benefitted if these companies buy produce from the Farmers. I dont think you will ever want to know as your agenda is to get rid of UPA. Do you know the Sensex has gone up with the Govts policy towards the FDI? Well, you and your party leaders need to go back to school and learn how to behave in the parliament, as your party has not allowed a single session of parliament to function. Shame on your party who has become a hurdle in the development of our nation.

Sudha Murthy would have been my first choice.

The BJP cannot win the state election in Karnataka and the UPA may fail to win the 2014 in India purely due to the corrupt practices in our rotten political system. In the earlier years, they were robbing us in Lakhs and few Crores but now they are looting the public wealth in hundreds of Crores.
Corruption in India is now become a major issue and they adversely affects its economy and growth. A 2005 study conducted by Transparency International in India found that more than 62% of Indians had first-hand experience of paying bribes or influence peddling to get jobs done in public offices successfully that has reduced to 40% in 2008. In 2011 India was ranked 95th out of 178 countries in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index.
Some of the largest sources of corruption in India are entitlement programs and social spending schemes enacted by the Indian government. Examples include ‘Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act’ and ‘National Rural Health Mission’. Other daily sources of corruption include India's trucking industry which is forced to pay billions in bribes annually to numerous regulatory and police stops on its interstate highways. Indian media has widely published allegations of corrupt Indian citizens stashing trillions of dollars in Swiss banks.
The causes of corruption in India include excessive regulations, complicated taxes and licensing systems, numerous government departments each with opaque bureaucracy and discretionary powers, monopoly by government controlled institutions on certain goods and services delivery, and the lack of transparent laws and processes.
The economy of India was under socialist-inspired policies for an entire generation from the 1950s until the late 1980s. The economy was characterized by extensive regulation, protectionism, and public ownership, policies vulnerable to pervasive corruption and slow growth. In 1960s ‘License Raj’ was often said to be at the core of all corruption.

If you have self respect you should have come out of BJP and formed a political party with clean image people and non corrupt people.
