Mangalore, Sep 20: A goods train went off track hurling into a ice plant near the old port, damaging the shed which contains generators on September 19 in the night.

Due to the festival holiday of Ganesh Chathurthi, the laborers were not on duty and hence escaped a horrific tragedy. But some of the employees working an extra shift ran off as soon as they heard the crashing of the train.

The reason for the train moving off the track as per the driver was that he could not see the end of the track and hence crashed into the shed.

Reports state that due to inappropriate lighting facilities the incident has occurred hence the concerned authorities must arrange adequate facilities to prevent such fatal incidents.

The railway police along with a railway team of mechanics have hauled the train back to the station.
