Udupi: Devotion, Enthusiasm Mark Ganeshotsava Festivities

Udupi, Sep 23: Thousands gathered at Santhakatte here on Saturday September 23 to take part in the Ganeshotsava festivities organized by ‘Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithi Santhakatte’.
People from various castes and religions were present in the programme to celebrate the 26th- year of Ganeshotsava.
The main attraction in the procession was the ‘Puniya Koti’ tableau by Jayakarnataka and Santhekatte Friends.
Sarvajanika Ganeshosthava Samithi president Mohan Thonse, secretary Umesha Kaliyanipura, cultural secretary Shekar Gujjarbettu and all members of the Samithi were present.

Udupi, Sep 23: "Goddess Lakshmi, Saraswati, and lord Ganesh are gods of knowledge, intelligence and resources, and they are also known as ‘Treeveni Sangama’. Lord Ganesha, who is also the provider of grace and symbol of Dharma, Artha, Kamma and Moksha, is worshiped by the young and old alike," said Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade on the occasion of silver jubilee of Ganeshotsava celebrations at Uchila.
To mark the occasion, mantapa in the shape of a village temple was constructed.
Referring to the mantapa, Dr Heggade said that there are plans to construct such a mantapa in Dakshina Kannada district where Ganeshotsava festivities would be held for the first time.
President of Dakshina Kannada Mahajan Mogaveer Sangha Keshava Kundhar, Ashokraj Yermal Biddu, Krishna Karkera Mumbai, custom officer Rohith Hegde Yermal, K S Venkatanarasimha Uppadyia, Ragavendra Uppadyia, Vijjayanath Vittal Shetty, and Fr Lawrence Rodrigues, parish priest of Uchila were the chief guests.
Members of Uchila Sarvajanika Ganeshostava Samithi were present on the occasion.
