Mangalore: Nagaraj Shetty Formally in JD(S), HDK Predicts End of Congress, BJP

Mangalore, Sep 24:
Former chief minister and state JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy (HDK) on Monday September 24 said that the people of this nation have been losing confidence in the national parties viz Congress and BJP because of their anti-people policies, and that by 2013 both will be on the verge of extinction.

He was addressing the JD(S) party workers’ convention at Town Hall on September 24. Former BJP leader and former CDA chairman Nagaraj Shetty and his supporters joined JD(S) on the occasion.

Training guns on the Congress-led UPA government at the center, the HDK said that the economic policies initiated by the government have let down the people. "Increasing the price of commodities and welcoming foreign companies to make investments are UPA's only achievements," he mocked, adding, "Most of the decisions taken by the leaders are in the interests of industrial bigwigs while the comman man's concerns are neglected."

Coming down heavily on the BJP-led state government; he said education, shelter and health sectors need to be the major priorities while drafting any government policy, "but the state BJP is busy playing politics with religious sentiments of the people. Young minds need to think on these issues," he pointed out.

Kumaraswamy next turned to his crusade against former CM B S Yeddyurappa and said that now he has understood the fact that it is people of this state who brought him up in the political arena, and thus is advocating their empowerment. He predicted that in the coming assembly election slated to be held within 5-6 months time, BJP will be washed away from the state.

He demanded the state government to initiate a scheme for pregnant women (of BPL families) of getting Rs 5,000 per month for their nutritious food and medical expenses. "When politicians can travel by aircraft, the government can definitely afford the scheme. It may cost only up to Rs 100 crore to the state treasury. Those who are ruling the state need to have open approach, he said.

If JD(S) comes to power, former CM said he has already drafted a scheme wherein 3 lac differently-abled persons will be guaranteed jobs. In addition, like in the case of widow pension, even unmarried girls will get monthly pensions, he said.

Nagaraj Shetty wants to see Kumarswamy’s government again

On the same occasion, former minister B Nagaraj Shetty joined JD(S). HDK handed over the party flag to him and welcomed him to the party.

Speaking on the occasion B Nagaraj Shetty said that in these days when selfish politicians are running the show, there is need for people to see H D Kumarswamy as the chief minister of the state again. Digging up his RSS background, Shetty asserted that he wants to restore the name and fame of DK district. "Even in RSS I was taught how to love and serve people without selfishness," he said.

Interestingly, Nagaraj Shetty entertained the party workers by singing the Kannada song ‘Akashave beelali mele, nanendu nimmavanu’, to which he received rousing applause.

Leader K Amarnath Shetty presided. Madhu Bangarappa, Zafrulla Khan, Jameer Ahmed Khan, Jyothi Reddy, M G Hegde, M B Sadashiva, S L Bhoje Gowda, U R Sabhapathi among others were present.

People from various parts of the district joined JD(S) in good numbers.

JD(S) is a strong regional, secular opposition party in the State of Karnataka. It takes up failures of government strongly in Assembly as well as before the people. In raising up Govt. failures, Congress is utterly a failure. However JD(S) would be wise and successful, only if they form alliance with secular parties in all forthcoming elections to victory of their voters and to form Government.

You said it correct. That is reality and truth. Person is communal and anti minority as long as the person is assosiated with BJP. The reason for this it is not individual is communal or anti minority, it is the BJP party which devided people of India on religion for their political gain.

Mr. MAHENDRA KUMAR IS LIVING EXAMPLE.

Jd(S) should try for other leaders too especially the ones left Parivar . Even if they get 2 or 3 seats of DK its a grand achievement and may be trend indicater for getting greater no of seats in other parts. I foresee Amarnath Shetty again contesting from Mudubidre. It will be good if Haladi can join jd(S) so that JD(S) can win kundapur seat.Statewise i see many MLAS from Congress and BJP joining JD(S) when election is nearby.hope JD(S) wins this time with thumping majority. Lets see past glory of Janata dal coming back in state.Considering pathetic and poor positions of congress and BJP in the state jd(S) has a golden opportunity this time.

Love it or hate hit, but you cannot ignore force JDS in comming elections. One way it is good that both BJP and Congress will not even inch closer towards simple majority. The equation is 80(BJP) 85(Congress) 50(JDS) 15 independents according to me. One can add or - 10 to the above equation with Congress with upperhand. It all depends how the merger SODA will happen depending upon how CBI will be used by the top brass, you know whom.
But I would like to see cabinet with MC Nanaiah in captian seat if not as CM atleast as Deputy or Home Minister and other good leaders like Y S V Datta, HD Kumarswamy and I also wish Halady Srinivas Shetty & DVS Join JDS and totally take coastal Karnataka out of Clutch's of both BJP & Congress who only did blame games and petty politics and permenently dented the communcal harmony in the region.

Its a shot in the arm for JDS to have inducteded Sri Nagaraj Shetty in to the party. Its a good decision too that Shetty has asserted not contest election.Because by contesting in JDS ticket in DK and loosing deposit is not digestable to leaders like him.Instead he prefers to influence the voters to tear into Congress/BJP.If we go by the sentiments of voters, there is no chance/hope for JDS to open account in DK other than Bantwal provided candidates is depenable one. However Nagaraj Shetty could be king maker in the next poll here like in formation of 20:20 team term of previous BJP/JDS rule.Ramanath Rai has a big worry now in Bantwal by entry of Shetty into JDS.

BJP was good when Mr. ABV was PM and now it is full of cheaters and back stabbers. At present situation, Congress is much better than any other parties as we see most corrupt people are going away from this party.

No person is BORN BAD. Situation and upbringing makes him/her bad.

Good Job by Kumaranna & his JDS. Appreciate this efforts of changing hearts once hard core saffronist (I have avoided using the word fanatics it great difficulty)into secular. People of DK & Udupi district should support Kumaranna & JDS bring back secular glory of these two twin districts.

Majority of partyment & leaders of BJP from twin district are seculary. They practice hard core saffron agenda in public only because of the diktat of PARTY's remote cotroller RSS.

for all congis, Congress is secular party, unfortunately there are many apspirants to top post, but honestly not single leader with VISION, ELIGIBILITY and LEADERSHIP QUALITY in that party. Eventhough the are opposition party, they are NUMB, SPINELESS.
