Mangalore: President of Ganeshotsava Committee Found Murdered

Mangalore, Sep 25: In a suspected case of murder, a man was found dead at his residence at Gorigudda here on Tuesday September 25 evening.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Ram Suvarna, president of Pumpwell Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti.

Though basically from Pumpwell, Suvarna and his family were staying in Karkala. He would visit Mangalore on every Ganesh Chaturthi to supervise and organize the celebrations. This time he was staying in a house in Gorigudda.

On Tuesday, some of his friends and acquaintances tried to reach him on phone, but got no response. They then called on him to check personally, but found the doors locked. When they forced open the doors and entered, they found Suvarna's body lying in a pool of blood.

Incidentally, the front door was locked with a key while the backdoor was locked from the inside. Also,  drawers in his bedroom had been thrown open.

Pandeshwar police rushed to the spot.

    filmy dance, musical show etc. Hindu leaders should think seriously and put a stop for
    filmy dance, musical show and ofcourse, Hafta Vasooli in the name of Lord Ganesha.

    Why was Mr.Ganesh all alone in that house ? Seeing that somebody has taken advantage of the situation.Could it be some old personal rivalry ?

    These things are becoming very common in Mangalore.The Police have to gather more intelligence and nab the culprits.May Mr.Ganesh' soul RIP.

    Ravi Shenava you are correct. Tilak started Sarvajanik Ganesh for mobilizing people for freedom struggle only and not purely as Religious ceremony. When his Associates like GopalKrishna Gokhale and Mahadeva Ranade Objected to bringing God Ganesha on dirty public Roads, Tilak convinced them saying that this is just a temporary arrangement only for freedom struggle, and the moment our nation gets Independence this Public Ganesh will be stopped once for all, and this Ganesh festival will be confined only to indvidual houses. In 1917 Veer Savarkar also took objection to Public Ganesh. Tilak, Ranade,Gokhale, Savarkar, all belonged to same Chitpavan Brahmin Caste whose family deity (Kula Devatha) was Ganesha. But Tilak, Ranade, Gokhale expired before 1920. That is why there was no one to tell the people to stop this Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav from 1948 onwards. Sad thing is that This festival has slipped from the hands of freedom fighters and gone into the dirty hands of Politicians and Goons.

    What has happened is terribly wrong. No one has the right to kill anyone for whatsoever reason. But there is much more to this case than meets the eye. There should be some history of past rivalry or fight. No one kills anyone without reason. Truth will come out sooner than later.

    In Mumbai-Thane-New Bombay more than 500 Public Ganeshotsava takes place. Out of this half belongs to a Regional Political Party and half belongs to underworld punters.
    Total Collection for these sarvajanik Ganesh amounts to more than Rs.100 Crores, but spent only a fraction.
    After Shiva Sena & underworld entered this Ganeshotsava more than 50 murders have taken place in last 45 years only due to dispute about Collections for Ganesh.
    Anyway, now the RELIGION is a Billion Dollar "Industry" in India.

    Ganeshotsava mandals use force on people to pay contributions. Major part of the contribution is pocketed. when forced to shell out, poor people curse & their roti is forcibly taken away by Ganesh mandals. Public collections for mandals should be banned forthwith.

    Earlier a person had said - this time the Ganeshotsava went very well with extortionist not present.
    That is because many of those extortionist are in jail due to HOMESTAY case.
    But all cannot be in jail. This mastermind thought he would make a haul in the absence of Padil etc.
    But goondas are goondas, they do not take kindly losing the cash money they usually collect in quite a lumpsum.
    he was a bit unlucky - it was because of the curse of people who paid by force during this ganeshotsava.

    People should realise BJP is made of goondas. And these goondas employed by Ministers, collect money from you all during these holy festivals, by force. Please realise and try not to vote for BJP who have nothing to do with Hindu Religion. They are fraudsters, in the name of Hindu religion.

    Lokamanya Tilak first started Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava in 1894 for giving facade for organizing the freedom struggle.
    But now after 118 yrs, seeing the kind of the elements behind this Utsava all over India, Tilak's ATMA must be repenting for starting it.
    Lord Ganesha now Save yourself from these money-modaka-eating Mooshikasuras.
