Mangalore, Sep 25: Kala Kunj Road in Kodialbail here was witness to an amazing scene as 'Monkey Man' Jyothiraj climbed a building on his hands and feet, much to the delight of all who flocked to watch him.

Jyothi Raj (better known as Kothi Raj), who hails from Chitradurga, is known for scaling building walls, and has done so in various places including Bangalore, Mysore and Udupi.

On Tuesday September 25, he displayed his amazing skills by climbing Shalini Enclave at Kodialbail.

Every year, Jyothi Raj wins the hearts of Udupi citizens during Ganeshotsava festivities, however, this time, as he was recuperating from an injury, he could not make it. He instead came to Mangalore and was supposed to climb the PVS building, but due to traffic and other issues, he was denied permission. He then chose to climb Shalini Enclave in Kala Kunj Road.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Jyothi Raj promised that he would come to Mangalore again and with prior permission, would climb the tallest building in the city. He lamented that he was not getting any support from the government even though he has a number of admirers and even students who learn such skills from him.

Ashok, his friend who brought him to Mangalore and arranged the event, said that he is interested in supporting those who perform stunts. "I like to support stuntmen and those who conduct cultural activities. It is our duty to encourage them and do something positive for their families,"

Jyothi Raj has earlier climbed a 16-floor building in Bangalore, and also performed similar stunts at Jog Falls.

Really i appreciate his talent..but Kothiraj first think of your safety .. life is not easy...if you fall down nd got injury nobody with you even tht time nobody recognize you. Government never notice this poor man's talent.. Govt will notice only big leaders.. actors.. killers.. and going to support them only....this is not monkey play ,, he got one talent through God... keep it up Kothiraj... please think about your safety firs please....

I appreciate his talent. It is heartening to see a rural background poor man is doing this type of adventure without any safety measures. He is risking his life. Safety of his life is to be ensured. God bless him.

With all respect for his abilities, he must not compromise with safety. Permission must be given with proper safety measures so that no lives should be put in dangerous. On the other hand kids also start stunting at home looking at him and end up in injuries. There is no harm in using any harness and which will give a clear message to upcoming generation.

I still recall seeing the 'Punarjama' episode of this Kothiraj with some Swamiji! It was funny to say the least! The Swamiji finally concluded that he was a 'monkey' in his previous birth somewhere near Chitradurga, and had died performing a dangerous stunt! This by sending him into a trance and hypnotising etc...The swamiji says whatever we do in our lifetime is connected with our previous birth...Any takers? Those who agree or disagree please substantiate....

Govt should recognize his skills and honor him.

He would have got this skills after a prolonged practice and efforts. Other youths should not try reciprocating him.

I wish Good luck to him.

He is really good at entertaining. But one should ensure that he wears harnesses when he is performing these stunts and also other safety precautions are taken. Accidents do happen and entertainment may take someones life.
Public should not encourage these kind of activities which puts someones life into danger.
