Udupi: Thousands Witness Immersion of Ganesha Idol at Brahmavar

Udupi, Sep 25:
After seven days of worship, the idol of Lord Ganesh installed by the Ganeshotsava committee for the 30th year at Brahmavar was taken for immersion in a procession here on Tuesday September 25.
 
The procession started from the Government Primary School, Brahmavar, and made its way past the old bus stand, police station, Main Bus Stand and culminated at the Mahalingeshwar Temple lake. A colourful display of fireworks was held at Gandhi Maidan during the procession.

Thousands of devotees joined in the procession and witnessed the immersion of the deity’s idol in the temple lake.
 
Vaman Pai of ‘Kuniyo Ganapa’ was the special attraction of the programme.
 
Earlier in the day Swamiji of Shiroor Math Lakshmivarateertha Swamiji flagged off the grand Pilivesha performance of Vishnumurthy Geleyara Balaga Handadi by lighting the lamp at Gandhi maidan in the morning. Industrialist Pramod Madhwaraj, team leader Gopal, Rajesh Shetty Birthi, S Narayan and others were present. The team consisted of nearly 125 members.
 
Another team 'Mattada Bettu' consisting of more than 50 persons also performed.
